Celebrating the bright future of medicine The AMA Queensland Doctors in Training Awards event will coincide with the Junior Doctor Conference (JDC) cocktail party. Date: Saturday 1 July Venue: Hilton Pool Deck, 190 Elizabeth Street, Brisbane. Time: 6.30pm - 9pm Price: AMA Queensland Member: $80 Non-Member: $90 Dress code: Cocktail or evening attire

What are we looking for? Junior Doctors with one or more of the following:

excellent clinical skills;



have undertaken volunteer or community work;



provide support to their professional colleagues; or



consistently demonstrate the AMA Queensland values of compassion, trust and knowledge in their professional lives and in the community.

AMA Queensland recognises the dedication and commitment it takes to become a doctor, and every year we welcome thousands of medical students and junior doctors to the profession and help to launch their careers. This year we are re-introducing the Doctors in Training Awards to acknowledge the achievements of exemplary Interns, Junior House Officers, Senior House Officers, Principal House Officers and Registrars. Winners will enjoy the benefit of a $500 cash prize as well as the distinction of being honoured by the peak Association for their chosen profession, an distinct advantage in an increasingly competitive employment market. Two prize categories are available for nomination:

Junior Medical Officer (Intern/ Resident); and

Registrar. A framed award and cash prize of $500 will be presented to each of the winners in the two categories.

Award nomination information Nominations may be made by colleagues, supervisors, associates and mentors. Nominators do not need to be AMA Queensland members, whereas nominees must be members. Cost-effective membership rates are available for Doctors in Training.

Nominations are to be made in writing by completing the attached form. These can be submitted via email with any supporting documentation to Leigh Holohan, Membership Manager [email protected]. Please ensure all relevant contact details are included for both the nominee and the nominator. Nominations must be received by close of business, Friday 19 May 2017 and winners will be announced at the AMA Queensland JDC cocktail party. Finalists must be able to attend the Awards evening on Saturday 1 July 2017. Selection of finalists The AMA Queensland President, Chief Executive Officer, representatives from the AMA Queensland Board, Council of Doctors in Training, and others from the medical profession will form the judging panel. All finalists will be invited to attend the JDC cocktail party where the awards will be presented. This event is being held at the Brisbane Hilton on Saturday 1 July 2017 and is complimentary for finalists. Additional tickets can be purchased via the JDC registration form. The judging panel’s decisions will be final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
