The mission of Northville Parks and Recreation is to provide diverse opportunities for the community to enjoy recreation and leisure pursuits, to enhance our unique cultural and natural resources, while we plan strategically for future needs.

The Parks and Recreation office is located in the Recreation Center at Hillside across from the water tower, the back entrance to Hillside Middle School, at 775 N. Center Street, Northville, MI, 48167.

In partnership with Maybury Farm, the Friends of Maybury, Northville Community Foundation and Maybury State Park, join us for the annual Egg Scramble. Meet celebrities Smokey Bear and the Easter Bunny, and many more! Stay after to enjoy the farm and all it has to offer. Enjoy playing games, get your face painted, make a craft and plant a seed. Be sure to bring your camera!

Looking for a facility to host your event?

The Northville Community Center is the ideal place to host your special event. The Community Center offers several rooms: 4 Meetings Rooms, a Stage, Kitchen and Banquet Room, that can accommodate 20 to 120 guests. All rooms are Wi-Fi accessible. The Recreation Center at Hillside and Community Center have full sized Gymnasiums available, as well. In addition the Recreation Center at Hillside also has two(2) mini-gyms, and a batting cage.

Futsal (Indoor Soccer) Ages 2 - 7

Michigan Futsal (soccer) Factory Academy provides a fun learning experience. Lessons are designed to enhance balance and coordination while teaching players to be comfortable with the ball. Visit a different country each week to learn about the soccer culture. Older players will learn to work in pairs, with ball time to learn how to make decisions in game like situations.

Students should wear loose clothing such as leotards or shorts. Pre – Beginners are ages 3 - 5 and Beginner/Advanced are ages 5 -10.

We emphasize sportsmanship and effort through silly drills. Bring a water bottle and wear tennis shoes.

Class will begin with muscle stretches and work into basic tumbling equipment at stations where students will learn many different skills, including a basic routine on the balance beam, and be introduced to somersaults, cartwheels and back walkovers.

Acro Cheer Ages 4 - 10

Take your average cheer and add fun moves, tumbling and a stunt and you’ve got Acro-Cheer! You will learn a new cheer each class, as well as work on cartwheels, handstands, front and back walkovers and five basic stunts. On the last day you will show off your moves to a parent or friend. Pom – poms are included in the fee. A class designed for kids with focus on developing motor skills through mobility, balance, power, strength and endurance. We want to create a strong mind and body through fitness and fun. Learning new obstacles each week helps athletes develop a positive mind set, boost their self-confidence and self-worth. Your child will jump, roll, climb, and balance through our obstacle course. Learn to draw cartoons, even if you’re a beginner! Neal Levin will teach you how through simple instructions and games. You’ll even get the chance to learn how to make your own. Fee includes: workshop materials and a free booklet to take home. Neal Levin is a freelance cartoonist and has taught over 45,000 students in 1,200 workshops.

Get your dancer ready for her/his first class by visiting the studio’s in-house shoe & apparel store, and to become familiar with our facility. Parents are invited into the classroom every 3 - 4 weeks to view the progress the dancers are making. Three comfortable lobbies are available for family members to occupy during class time. All class fees include unlimited tickets to the end-of-session performance at the Hillside Middle School auditorium.

A structured playtime is the perfect introduction to the value of dance. Grown-ups help stretch at the beginning and keep dancers on task. Northville Baseball and Softball Association, (NBSA) is a volunteer based organization dedicated to advancing the cause of baseball and softball to our communities’ young ball players. Fun is our number one goal! If you are interested in being involved with NBSA, meetings are held on the last Monday of each month at the Hillside Forum. Two levels of competition are available: House Play - Recreational Leagues Ages 4-7, Co-ed  Ages 7-18, Boys  Ages 7-18, Girls Travel Play Ages 8-18 Boys and Girls teams. Travel players register with their coaches. Coaches Please volunteer to coach. It is a great opportunity to work with our young players and support our program. Training for coaches is provided free of charge. Umpires Anyone 14 and older by July 31 may apply. No experience necessary as schooling is provided. Parent / Child umpiring teams encouraged.

Teen Volunteers Needed! Teens are needed to work with the children as they learn and practice their safety lessons. All teens in middle school and high school are eligible for volunteering. The Safety Town program relies on teen volunteers for the success of the program. All volunteers will undergo a background check. Space is limited so register early. Youth Recreation

Our league emphasizes skill development, team play, and good sportsmanship for all involved. Evening practices are held once a week depending on coach and facility availability. Games will be played on Saturdays between 8:00am and 4:00pm, with an occasional Sunday game mixed in. An 8 game season will end with a “Position Day” matchup on the last weekend of games. Practice will begin two weeks prior to the start of your first league game, if possible. Maximum of 10 players on a team, if final participation numbers allow. This clinic will help improve the overall volleyball skills of each player, no matter what the player’s starting level. All 8 weeks for 2nd and each additional child in a family: $1,220 Weekly Early Drop-Off is from 8:00am – 9:30am, which is an additional fee of $40 Recreation Passport A Recreation Passport is required for all vehicles entering the park for drop-off and pick-up. The Recreation Passport has replaced motor vehicle permits for entry into all Michigan State Parks and is available when renewing your licence plate tabs at the Secretary of State or at any park office.

Volunteer Coaches needed! Volunteers must pass a background check before beginning the season. There will be a mandatory coaches meeting following the registration deadline.

Youth Athletics Lacrosse Spring 2018 Grades 1 – 8

Northville Parks and Recreation offers a variety of open activities at both the Recreation Center at Hillside and the Northville Community Center, throughout each month, including volleyball, basketball, pickleball, table tennis and badminton.

Our Philosophy…The Youth Lacrosse program is a community based program that looks to develop players at all skill levels. Our goal is to provide a program that allows players to develop as lacrosse players and teammates, fostering long lasting friendships. We welcome players from other local communities where lacrosse is not offered. Our programs run throughout the year to introduce new players to the sport and allow returning players a place to grow as athletes. Lacrosse Intro Clinic for Boys & Girls Grades 1 - 8

Come try lacrosse! Join the coaches for the one time free introductory clinic that will give you a general idea of the game and all it has to offer our athletes. Adult Beginner/Advanced Beginner

Our Photo Policy: Enrollment in Parks and Recreation Department sponsored programs authorizes Northville Parks and Recreation, its departments, employees and contractors to take your photograph for use in future brochures, flyers, documents, displays, and other publications, website and on social networking websites. Parks and Recreation will not sell, use or authorize others to use such photographs for commercial purposes.

Refund Policy: A refund check or credit card refund will be issued and/or mailed to the payee within 3 to 4 weeks of the request. Refund checks will be mailed directly. • If the Northville Parks & Recreation Department cancels: Payee will be refunded the full amount. • If participant cancels prior to the beginning of the 1st class: Full amount minus $15 processing fee, and any incurred costs. • If participant cancels after 1st class and before the 2nd scheduled class: 50% of class fee. • Refunds will not be issued for requests made after the second scheduled class.

Thayer’s Corner Nature Area

Thayer’s Corner is a township park, maintained and operated by volunteers. The park is open from dawn until dusk year ‘round. There are walking/hiking trails, wildlife and “nature” to enjoy. An old historic barn and picnic shelter are available for rent. Community
