3.1 miles mixed terrain, paved/unpaved areas over hilly forested areas and open fields. Tire Flip, Monkey Bars, Dew Claw Small Walls, Bucket Brigade, Rope Climb, Bow Hunter Balance and many more.

Participant Competitive Levels: Competitive racers must complete the course and All obstacles. Competitive racers will compete for Cash Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the Male and Female category. Just For Fun Just For Run racers can try or pass the obstacles. We suggest 3 or 4 friends work as a team to get over-under and through the obstacles.

All racers receive an Event t-shirt and medal Racers competitive and just for fun must be 18 years of age or older. Proof of age required at Packet Pickup and Race Day Sign-in. Deerslayer 5K Obstacle Course Race Participant Waiver and Release Form Bib Number: I, in consideration for allowing to participate in the Deerslayer 5K Obstacle Course Race on April 16, 2016 at Winged Deer Park (the “Event”), I agree to abide by all of the following rules, requirements, and regulations. ENTRY AND PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT, NOTICE AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK 1. The Deerslayer 5K Obstacle Course Race (hereinafter referred to as the “Event”) is meant to be an extremely challenging experience that breaks you down and builds you up to reach your highest potential. 2. Rules. I agree to become familiar with and abide by all written and/or posted rules of the Event, The City of Johnson City and its employees and affiliates, The Johnson City Senior Center Foundation and its members and affiliates, Event personnel and volunteers, promoters, officials, property owners, advertisers, equipment suppliers, vendors and service providers, and Event Sponsors (collectively “Released Parties”) with respect to the Event, as well as all written and/or posted rules, which include the “Course” and the “Event.” I further agree to comply with all directions, instructions and decisions of the Organizer and Event personnel. I further agree not to challenge these rules, directions, instructions or decisions on any basis at any time. 3. Govern Participation. I understand that the Event and the Released Parties have the authority to issue instructions or directions relating to the manner of my safe participation in the Event and has the authority to halt my participation in the Event at any time it or any Event and/or Released Parties deem it necessary in their sole discretion to protect the safety of participants, spectators and personnel, and/or to promote fairness and the spirit of the Event in the manner intended. I understand that the Event and Released Parties’ personnel may immediately cause anyone who disobeys any rules, directions, instructions, decisions or laws, or whose participation, conduct, presence or behavior endangers safety or negatively affects a person, facility or property of any type or kind, to be removed from the Course and/or the Event. 4. Attitude and Behavior. I agree to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times; to demonstrate respect for all people, equipment, and facilities; and to participate with a cooperative and positive attitude. 5. Alcohol and Drugs. I certify that I am not, and on the date of the Event, will not be under the influence of alcohol or any drugs that would in any way impair my ability to safely participate in the Event. 6. Specific Rules. I specifically acknowledge and agree to obey civil and criminal laws (including traffic laws) and further to abide by the following rules and those posted on race day: (1) no urination or defecation is permitted except in designated facilities provided for such; (2) no wheeled conveyances or pets are allowed in the Course or at the Event at any time with the exception of service animals; (3) no clothing, props or equipment that pose an unnecessary risk to participants, spectators or personnel are permitted; (4) no diving or entering water or mud pits head-first is permitted; (5) no outside alcoholic beverages, glass and metal containers, coolers, bottles or cans are permitted in the Event; (6) no firearms, knives, mace, other weapons or fireworks are allowed at the Event, other than as specifically approved by the Event for demonstration or security purposes by authorized military, law enforcement, security or Event personnel; (7) all backpacks, duffel bags and other containers are subject to search; and (8) all prohibited or other illegal and unsafe items are subject to confiscation and disposal.

7. I understand that the Event is an extreme test of my physical ability and mental limits. The Event is a specialized extreme adventure event and is not intended for everyone. I understand that there are serious risks involved in participating in the Event and that the Event is a potentially hazardous activity. I understand that participating in the Event could result in serious, permanent, catastrophic injury or death. I am aware of these risks and I voluntarily assume the risk of any and all injuries or death that relate or pertain to my participating in the Event. I understand that the nature of my injuries (other than death) that relate or pertain to my participating in the Event may include, but not be limited to: drowning; near-drowning, sprains, strains, fractures, heat and cold injuries; over-use syndrome; injuries involving vehicles; animal bites and/or stings; contact with poisonous plants; accidents involving, but not limited to climbing, hiking, travel by truck, car, or other convenience; heart attack; burns; and the potential for permanent paralysis. 8. I understand and agree that it is my responsibility to determine whether I am sufficiently fit, healthy, skilled, and physically trained to safely participate in the Event. I certify that I am, and on the date of the Event will be, in good health and in proper physical and mental condition to safely participate in the Event. I certify that I do not suffer from any physical or mental conditions that may affect my ability to safely participate in the Event. I understand that pregnant women should not participate in the Event. I certify that I do not have back, heart or other conditions that may prevent me from safely participating in the Event. I agree that if I am not in proper physical and mental condition on the day of the Event, or if I have any questions about my ability to safely participate in the Event, that I will not participate in the Event. 9. I understand that the Event and the Released Parties have the authority to issue instructions or directions relating to the manner of my safe participation in the Event and has the authority to halt my participation in the Event at any time it or any Event personnel deem it necessary in their sole discretion to protect the safety of participants, spectators and personnel, and/or to promote fairness and the spirit of the Event in the manner intended by the Course and the Released Parties. Participating in the Event involves completing the Event Course (“Course”) which includes obstacles and features (“Obstacles”) located on the Course. I understand that the Obstacles are purely voluntary. I understand that I am free to avoid and/or not use the Obstacles. I understand that in order to participate safely in the Event, I must know how to swim and be a competent swimmer. I understand that I will have the opportunity to inspect the entire Course to confirm that I am comfortable with the Course and the Obstacles. If I have any questions or concerns regarding the safety of the Event, or my ability to safely participate in the Event, I agree that I will not participate in the Event. 11. Participating in the Event could result in serious, permanent, catastrophic injury or death. I voluntarily and expressly assume the risk of any and all injuries or death that relate or pertain to my participation in the Event. I am aware of the risks of participating in the Event and I expressly, knowingly, and voluntarily accept those risks including, but not limited to contact or collision with other participants; contact or collision with Event Obstacles; contact or collision with natural and man-made objects; submersion; drowning; holes; variations in terrain and/or uneven terrain; rocks, trees, debris and stumps; close proximity and/or contact with thick smoke and/or open flames; falls; illness; infection; contact or collision with spectators; wildlife; plants and insects; and adverse weather conditions.

12. I understand that I may require medical assistance during the Event. I consent to receive first aid, medical care, and treatment as determined by appropriate Event personnel. I certify that on the date of the Event, I will possess and be covered by, medical/health insurance. I agree to assume liability for any and all medical costs incurred as a result of my participation in the Event and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties (as defined in Paragraph 2) from all liability for such costs including liens. 13. I understand that my Event Pass is revocable at any time and is non-transferrable. I understand and agree that if I transfer my Event Pass in violation of the Agreement, I will be fully responsible for all injuries and/or death to the person I provide the Event Pass to, and for all injuries and/or death to other participants injured by the individual using my Event Pass. The Released Parties reserve the right to postpone, cancel, or modify the Event due to weather conditions, Acts of God, or other factors beyond the control of the Released Parties that might affect the health and/or safety of the participants. No refunds will be granted. 14. I grant permission to the Released Parties, to use, reproduce, sell and distribute any and all photographs, images, videotapes, motion pictures, recordings, or any other depiction of any kind of me or my participation the Event or related activity for any legitimate purpose and I understand that I shall not be entitled to any compensation therefore. 15. I grant permission to the Released Parties to film, videotape and record gratis my performance in the Event and subsequently to telecast, sell, distribute and otherwise utilize the same in whatever manner the Released Parties shall deem appropriate. Such permission shall include granting the unlimited and irrevocable right to the Released Parties to use, reproduce or broadcast, my name, nickname, image, likeness, voice, photograph and biographical information in connection with the Event without compensation of any kind to me. I acknowledge that the Released Parties shall have the right throughout the world to copyright, use, reuse, publish, republish, broadcast and otherwise distribute depictions of or information about me and all or any portion of the Event in which I may appear on any and all radio, network, cable and local television programs and in any print materials and in any other format or media (including electronic media) now known or hereinafter devised in perpetuity and without compensation to me. RELEASE OF CLAIMS 1. In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Event, I hereby release Deerslayer 5K Obstacle Course Race, the City of Johnson City and its affiliates, the Johnson City Senior Center Foundation and its members and affiliates, Event staff, Event volunteers, and Event sponsors and all “Released Parties” from any and all present and future claims, lawsuits, actions, proceedings, losses, damages, requests for medical expenses, fines and judgments (collectively “Claims’) that may be made by me, or on my behalf, that relate or pertain to the Event. This includes all Claims for property damage, personal injury and death that relate or pertain to the Event. 2. I voluntarily make this agreement because I understand that the Event is an extreme activity, that there are inherent risks involved in participating in the Event, and that engaging in those risks is one of the primary reasons I have voluntarily decided to participate in the Event. I acknowledge and agree that the risks associated with the Event are open and obvious and that I have been informed and warned of any and all risks. In addition, prior to participating, I will have the opportunity to inspect the Course and Obstacles and I will not participate in the Event unless I believe it is safe to do so. For these reasons, and given the unique and extreme nature of this Event, I hereby waive and release all Claims against the Released Parties.

INDEMNITY AGREEMENT 1. In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Event and use Winged Deer Park facilities, I agree to indemnify, hold harmless and defend the Released Parties from any Claims, liabilities, losses, attorneys’ fees, and court costs that may result from any claims or causes of action arising from my participation in the Event. I do so regardless of whether the Released Parties are negligent. 2. By registering for this Event, I agree to comply with all of the rules, requirements and regulations contained in this Agreement. I understand that if I do not accept all the terms and conditions in the Agreement that I should not register for this Event and should not participate in this Event. I HAVE READ THIS ENTRY AND PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT NOTICE AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK. I FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT.
