6. Key Achievements In the first quarter of 2017, over than USD 36,092,558 were provided in the form of cash based interventions to around 627,230 vulnerable individuals in in camps and communities. So far, the food security sector received funds for four main projects (see the Progress Report above) under Relief component. Ongoing advocacy is taking place by the Food Security Working Group to draw the required attention from donors to insure funding for the second quarter is guaranteed. WFP and other United Nations agencies are working with the Jordanian Government to explore options to resume the humanitarian assistance provided to over 60,000 Syrians stranded at the Jordanian-Syrian border (berm). 7. Challenges faced during the reporting period Only three organizations out of eight who appealed under the Food Security sectors were able to secure funds in the first quarter of 2017, thus affecting the process of implementing two main projects, in kind-food assistance and nutritional awareness sessions in communities. Another challenge is related to missing the opportunity for applying to OCHA-JHF call for proposal due to not meeting the call objective and requirement during the process of designing the sector priority.

8. Key priorities and gaps foreseen in the 2nd quarter (April - June) The Food Security sector will continue advocating needs of vulnerable individuals in the refugee and host communities aiming to secure sufficient food consumption for the most vulnerable, while also focusing on projects that received zero funds in the first quarter of 2017.
