Services provided: Sector work to meet the immediate and short-term health needs of individual refugees in camps and vulnerable in urban settings but also focusses on undertaking health systems strengthening and promoting resilience of national health system as a longer-term solution toward integration of refugees within the national health care system.

5. Progress against Targets: Sector Priority Indicators

6. Key Achievements - Health Sector Working Group maintain its regular coordination forums during first quarter through main Health Sector Working Group (HSWG), Reproductive Health sub working group, Mental Health sub working group, Nutrition sub working group and Community Health taskforce. Field coordination maintained as well in both camps (Azraq and Zatari), Mafraq and Irbid. - Health sector humanitarian response strategy updated and launched for next two years 2017/2018, the strategy outlines the context of the humanitarian response in Jordan, particularly highlighting the Syrian refugee crisis and its implications on the national health system. - Health Sector work plan 2017 set up with all actors and other sectors to track key priorities of the sector and measure achievements against planned activities. - Establishment of health services on Berm (Rukban area) through UN Joint clinic complex (UNHCR, UNFPA & UNICEF) and maintain provision of basic package of health services including primary health care , ante natal care , nutrition and IYCF, basic reproductive health, expanded program of immunization (EPI) and medical evacuation/ referrals. - Inter agency Nutrition Survey 2016 concluded, published and the Nutrition WG has developed and operationalise an action plan based on the survey recommendations.

7. Challenges faced during the reporting period -

Suspension of IYCF services in the south (Karak, Ma’an, Aqaba and 3 parts of Jordan valley) increase number of war-wounded cases access Jordan territories for medical and acute stabilization due to deterioration of security situation in southwest and southeast of Syria

Improve access of Syrian on the Berm at Rukban area to access established health care services on the Jordan side.

8. Key priorities and gaps foreseen in the 2nd quarter (April - June) - Maintain essential level of services including medical stabilization for war-wounded acute cases. - Integrate IYCF interventions within primary health care services in Za’atari and Azraq camp. - Review and update the national reproductive health protocols. - Expand immunization services on berm side through EPI and where possible through emergency vaccination campaign.
