Solution Science for Research and Industry

October 2010 Photonex 2010 Next week, Photonex rolls into the The International Centre, Telford. As the UK's only event of its kind serving the Optics & Photonics Industry, this is your opportunity to see our technologies, discuss the services we offer, and try out some of our products. Something you cannot do over the telephone, through advertising or on-line. You can talk face-to-face with some of the Elliot Scientific team and meet other visitors from the Optics and Photonics community. Whether you are within academia, government or industrial research and development, Photonex is the place to check out the latest technology, equipment, instruments and systems for multitudes of different applications. You can also enter our competition, see below. Elliot Scientific will be on Stand C15 and you can download the floorplan here. Parking at the event is free (SatNav: TF3 4JH) or take the free Shuttlebus from Telford Central Station. Direct trains run from London or change at Wolverhampton if travelling from the North; Birmingham if travelling from the South. We look forward to seeing you on November 3rd or 4th.

Preview Pulsed Mid-IR or Terahertz, CW Ti:S and Pulsed Femtosecond Tunable DPSS Lasers from M SQUARED Elliot Scientific will be showing the M Squared portfolio of high-reliability next-generation tuneable DPSS lasers at Photonex. The range includes:

• • •

SolsTiS - Ultracompact, narrow linewidth tunable continuous wave Ti:S source Sprite - Widely tunable ultracompact femtosecond laser with Ethernet control Firefly - Compact, widely tunable sources offering: • Pulsed Mid-IR for trace gas detection, spectroscopy and IRCM • Terahertz for spectroscopy or detection applications

More information on the M Squared range can also be found here.

The spotlight will be on Miniature Stages by Elliot | Martock Elliot|Martock high-resolution precision miniature slides have dominated the market for many years and our broad range of stages with travels of 3, 5 and 10 mm will be to the fore at Photonex. Divided into Small, Very Small and Ultra Small, the positioners are available in single, dual and three axis configurations with a variety of adjustment options. A number of accessories complement each range to further enhance the usability and flexibility of the stages. Photonex gives you the opportunity to see for yourself how Elliot|Martock miniature slides can improve your applications. More information on these postioners can be found here.

HOLOEYE's PLUTO Spatial Light Modulator enters a new phase HOLOEYE's PLUTO phase-only spatial light modulator (SLM), based on a reflective 2 megapixel LCOS microdisplay, will be demonstrated at Photonex by Elliot Scientific. Four versions are on offer, optimized for the following wavelengths:

• • • •

PLUTO-VIS 420 ~ 850 nm: Broadband A/R coated PLUTO-NIR 850 ~ 1100 nm: Optimized for 1064 nm and >2pi phase modulation PLUTO-NIR-2 750 ~ 950 nm: For femtosecond laser/biophotonics Applications PLUTO-TELCO 1550 nm: Optimized for common telecom ranges

More information on spatial light modulation can be found here.

Polarisation Maintaining Fibre Assemblies & Speciality Components from OZ Optics OZ Optics is one of the leading fibre optic suppliers in the world and Elliot Scientific will be showing their outstanding portfolio of products at Photonex. The range includes focusers, collimators, beamsplitters, optical delay lines and attenuators among others, but what makes them stand out from run of the mill SM and MM manufacturers is their range of polarisation maintaining (PM) fibre assemblies and speciality components. OZ Optics also offer a range of 23 different fibre coupled laser delivery systems. The compact low voltage laser modules operate with precision temperature control that maintains the wavelength variation to better than 0.1 nm. More information on these and other fibre products can be found here.

CEP Lasers and Precision Optics from CLEO 2010 Award Winning FEMTOLASERS Lasers and optics from FEMTOLASERS will be shown by Elliot Scientific at Photonex. The 2010 CLEO/Laser Focus World Innovation Award Honorable Mention went to their CEP-stabilised FEMTOPOWER V system designed for the attosecond science community earlier this year. Other oscillators and amplifiers plus the specialist range of optics for femtosecond laser applications will be shown by us at Photonex. More information on these products can be found here, or you can discuss your requirements with our Sales Team at the show.

Manual and semi-automatic alignment systems from Elliot Scientific Specially developed for a variety of customers, Elliot Scientific regularly builds alignment systems based around manual or DALi 2 controlled piezo-driven Elliot Gold Series Flexure Stages. The rigs offer unprecedented stability and flexibility in multiple axes with positioning accuracies down to 10 nm on some models. If you have an application that needs a custom solution, then please discuss your requirements with our Sales Team at Photonex or contact us

½ Watt CW at any wavelength between 500 and 599 nm from Solus Technologies The Axiom range of high power solid state visible lasers from Solus Technologies offer excellent beam quality, narrow linewidths and are controlled by a GUI from a PC. The Axiom-514 has an output power of 500 mW at 514 nm, whereas the emission wavelength of the Axiom-5XX can be user defined at the time of purchase within the range 500 to 599 nm. Applications, such as replacing conventional Argon Ion laser sources, also include: Fluorescence & Confocal Microscopy • Ophthalmology • Spectroscopy • Flow Cytometry Discover more about these and other Solus products by talking to our Sales Team at Photonex or contact us.

Laser Safety by Sperian Sperian combines the timelessness of tortoise shell with high-tech in the design of the New York range of comfortable and stylish laser protection spectacles. Intricate metal accents not only enhance the design, but also create a highly protective laser-resistant frame. Sperian's use of premium materials for every component in their sophisticated and high-quality products result in CE certified laser protection like no other in the industry. Try on the range at Photonex. More information on this frame and the others available can be found here.

Glass Polarizers for the Mid-IR and more from CODIXX CODIXX colorPol® MIR polarizers have a spectral bandwidth of almost 4 µm and include a useful performance band that covers 1.2 to 5 µm. Built using the unique technology of doping of sodium silicate glass with prolate silver nanoparticles, the colorPol® range of polarizers will be demonstrated at Photonex by Elliot Scientific.
