financial empowerment. Preserving credit options. Building communities. the community financial services association of america (cfsa) was established in 1999 as the national organization for small dollar, short-term lending, or payday advances. Payday advance stores continue to consistently serve diverse communities by providing access to credit and more financial options to banked Americans who choose to use payday advance products to meet short-term needs. CFSA member companies represent more than half of all payday advance stores and are located in neighborhoods across the country providing a valued service to those communities. These neighborhood financial centers provide access to a broad scope of services for both consumers and small-business owners. Having access to small dollar, short-term loans not only empowers its individual customers, but creates an environment that facilitates economic growth for the small businesses. We firmly believe that payday advance transactions should be conducted in a safe and responsible manner, with appropriate consumer protections. To that end, CFSA members must abide by mandated industry Best Practices that ensure responsible conduct among lenders, protect borrowers' rights, and encourage self-governance of the payday advance industry. To learn more about CFSA's Best Practices, go to cfsaa.com/cfsa-member-Best-Practices.aspx
