It will be quite hot everywhere in May. Humidity is high in Bangalore and Mumbai, and you can expect dry heat in New Delhi and Hyderabad. Pack loose and airy clothing Carry bottled water with you at all times While visiting tourist attractions like the Taj Mahal or mosques, you will be required to cover your shoulders and knees. You should carry cash with you for various entrance fees and tips. You may have trouble exchanging large sums of money abroad, but you can withdraw rupees from all of the private banks. You should be able to find ATMs for major banks in the airports. It is customary to tip an average of Rs. 100 at hotels and for other services. Transport within all of the cities is quite easy and you can use Uber or Ola (local version of Uber) and pay with cash or card. You can also travel by Tuk-tuk or autorickshaw. Note that autorickshaws can be requested through Ola and it is wise to check the price in the app so that you know how much to negotiate with your driver. When traveling by air between cities, your standard baggage allowance will be 15 kilograms. We recommend pre-paying for any excess baggage. It can be done at the airport, but is often discounted if done online in advance.

MARKET INSIGHT Higher education is seen as an extremely important step in the career path of an Indian candidate. Very often, university and business school choices are made collectively by the candidate and his/her family, so it is not uncommon for parents to attend some of our Indian fairs (particularly World Grad School Tour events). Candidates will come armed with a number of questions and tend to be quite forward in their approach. The beginning of the fair tends to be quite busy, which can sometimes make it difficult to speak to each candidate individually. We advise grouping them based on their program of interest so you don’t need to repeat yourself, and can address any questions to the whole group. If you have alumni in the cities you are traveling to, it is worth contacting them as they might be able to help at your table. Moreover, candidates appreciate hearing real life experiences from current students and alumni, so this will act as added value too. All the cities we visit in the Spring have a slightly different candidate persona. The most notable difference is between candidates in the north and south. Southern cities such as Bangalore and Hyderabad are well-known tech hubs, which means it is quite likely that you will come across a good number of IT/STEM grads in those cities. Mumbai and Delhi on the other hand, are much bigger cities, and the cross section of candidates tends to be more varied.
