Milton Community Resource Centre: Ontario Early Years Programs Milton Community Resource Centre is the Ontario Early Years Centre for North Halton

Ontario Early Years Centres are places where parents and caregivers can:  Take part with their children in a range of programs and activities  Get answers to questions  Get information about programs and services that are available for young children  Talk to early years professionals, as well as other parents and caregivers in the community

How To Register for Ontario Early Years Programs Ontario Early Years programs have no fee for service 

Programs are for children newborn to 6 years of age, not yet in Grade 1.



Registration for OEYC programs is completed via a lottery system, with registration completed online during registration week ONLY.



Online Registrants will be “waitlisted” in the program and will be notified via email if they have been selected for the program.



In person registration is available between 9 a.m —5 p.m , and until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays only throughout the school year.



Parents/Caregivers wishing to sign up to attend programs must submit only one online lottery per class, per



registration session.



All registrations must be completed by the deadline date to be considered in the lottery

Child Care Providers’ Corner Newborn to 6 years

(ongoing drop-in) If you are caring for a child(ren) other than your own, this ongoing drop in program supports Child Care Providers in providing valuable play and learning opportunities for the children they care for; to support development, challenge thinking, and build relationships. Come join in the fun, while networking with other Providers in the community. Child care providers are any individuals caring for children other than their own but may also include providers own children No registration is required but program space is limited to providers only.

Parent Resource Library This supportive resource offers a selection of books, DVDs and articles on a range of topics related to parenting. Parent/Child Resource Kits are also available on loan for a small charge. These bags of reusable resources allow adults to explore specific topics with children. Parent Educators are available to assist at scheduled times.

Parent Connections Drop In Parenting support for those with infants newborn to 12 months.

A Parent Educator will facilitate each week, along with various guests from the community to provide resources and information regarding parenting, health issues, and infant development. Weekly topics will be highlighted, but parents can always come with their own questions and concerns. Check our facebook page for weekly topics. This informal session is not a “stay and play” drop in, but rather an informal parent support drop in. Infants up to a year are welcome. Registration is not required. Tuesdays at 1:00-2:30 pm in the Hawthorne Room, MCRC, 410 Bronte St South.

Parent Movie Night Join us for a movie and popcorn! We will be watching the parenting video “Unconditional Parenting” by Alfie Khon, and then discussing your views, impact and ways to utilize the new information gained. Annual Nutrition Fair Our annual Nutrition Fair is back, offering families of young children the opportunity to browse a variety of displays, gather resources and learn about healthy eating. Join us for a bowl of tasty vegetarian chili, mini topical demonstrations, children’s activities related to healthy eating and more. Topics/displays to include: breastfeeding, making baby food, picky eaters, healthy eating on a budget. (Please note that this event is 1st come 1st served, while supplies last.) Milton Community Resource Centre: Family Resource Programs Family Resource Program (FRP) - Fee For Service A Member Agency of the United Way of Milton

Family Resource Programs are funded through program user fees and a grant from the United Way of Milton.

Annual Family Registration Fee You must pay an Annual Family Registration Fee before you are able to purchase any Family Resource Programs (FRP). It can be purchased either online or in person at our main location. Why is this fee necessary? This annual fee helps to offset the cost of running quality programs with our growing community. The Annual Registration Fee is mandatory for families to participate in MCRC’s Family Resource Programs . The cost is $25 annually and is valid for one year from the date of purchase. If you have a current Volunteer Action Plan you will not need to pay an Annual Family Registration Fee until your Volunteer Action Plan expires.

How to Register for Family Resource Programs Family Resource Programs are fee based, age specific and require registration    

Our programs are for children newborn to six years of age, not yet in Grade 1. Registration for Family Resource Programs is completed every 8 weeks, for one session at a time. Registration is on a first come, first served basis and must be done online or in person, not emailed in. In person registration is available between 9 a.m —5 p.m , and until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays only throughout the school year. See Registration dates located on Page 2.

Steps to Register:  You must create an online account in order to register for programs and pay for your Annual Family Registration Fee Pre-purchase your Annual Family Registration Fee in advance of registration day to save time  Once you have completed your account, you can go online on Registration day starting at 9 a.m. and register for programs. Registration will be open until the program is full or starts.

Family Resource Programs Cancellation Policy Refunds and Change Requests A $25.00 administration fee is charged for all refund and change requests made prior to the deadline date. Last day to make change requests or withdraw from a program is two weeks prior to the session start date, after this date no changes can be made to registrations. No refund past this date.

Early Childhood Educator this program provides the best developmentally and age appropriate activities based on an understanding of how babies learn best at this age. You baby needs space, time and freedom to explore new experiences that will capture their interests and promote further development. A special memento of your babies first time finger painting will be documented for you to take home. “Babies are born learning. When they interact with others , babies are like little scientists, observing faces and gestures and noticing everything around them”(Dr. Meltzoff 1977) Day
