Ontario Early Years Centres are places where parents and caregivers can:  Take part with their children in a range of programs and activities  Get answers to questions  Get information about programs and services that are available for young children  Talk to early years professionals, as well as other parents and caregivers in the community

Programs are for children newborn—6 years of age, not yet in grade 1 Registration for OEYC programs is completed via a lottery system, with registration completed during registration week Online registrants will be “waitlisted” in the program and be notified via e-mail if they have been selected for the program Parents/caregivers wishing to sign up to attend programs must submit only one online lottery per class, per registration session

How to Register: By Lottery Get active together! Supported by qualified staff these 7 week Music and Movement programs are for adults and children to get active together to nurture healthy development and well-being. While using equipment like the balance beam, bean bag toss, hoola hoops, and parachutes children learn skills like; listening, speaking, counting, taking turns, large motor skills, and being part of a group. Younger siblings are welcome!

How to Register: No Registration Required If you are caring for a child(ren) other than your own, this ongoing drop in program supports Child Care Providers in providing valuable play and learning opportunities for the children they care for; to support development, challenge thinking, and build relationships. Come join in the fun, while networking with other providers in the community. MCRC Ontario Early Years Programs (OEYC) Parenting Education and Resources Parent Resource Library The Parent Resource Library offers a selection of books, DVDs and articles on a range of topics related to parenting. Parent/Child Resource Kits are also available on loan for a small charge. These kits of reusable resources allow adults to explore specific topics with children. Parent Educators are available to assist at scheduled times.

Parenting Together Night Dedicate a date night to parenting and dessert! Join guest speaker Brian Russell to explore ways to build resiliency as a couple so you can build resiliency in your children. Resilient couples, resilient children! Brian is a Marriage and Family Therapist, Provincial Coordinator of the Father Involvement Imitative—Ontario Network and Master Virtues Facilitator. Parent Connections Drop-In Parenting support for those with infants Newborn—12 Months! A Parent Educator will facilitate each week, along with various guests from the community to provide resources and information regarding parenting, health issues, and infant development. Weekly topics will be highlighted, but parents can always come with their own questions and concerns. Check our Facebook page for weekly topics! Positive Discipline Series The Positive Discipline Series is coming this Spring! Registration opens February 2, 2015. Save the Date! Positive Discipline in everyday parenting helps parents learn how to teach children effectively, while respecting their rights. The 8 week series is based on setting goals and finding solutions to challenges while respecting the child as a learner. It is an approach to teaching that helps children succeed, gives them information, and supports their growth. Sessions will take place Tuesdays at MCRC—410 Bronte St. S from 6:30 pm—8:30 pm. $20 registration fee will be applied, limited childcare is available.

How to Register: Online Infants learn through exploring with all their senses. Lead by a Registered Early Childhood Educator this program provides the best developmentally and age appropriate activities based on an understanding of how babies learn best at this age. Your baby needs space, time and freedom to explore new experiences that will capture their interests and promote further development. A special memento of your babies first time finger painting will be documented for you to take home. “Babies are born learning. When they interact with others, babies are like little scientists, observing faces and gestures and noticing everything around them”. (Dr. Meltzoff, 1977) Location

In this 6 week program, parents will learn how to successfully communicate with their preverbal/hearing baby using sign language while also enhancing baby’s verbal skills. This program will include ASL signing instruction, signing play time with your child and all materials (parent workbook with illustrated signing dictionary, early signing board book, Mocobabies, Little Helpers stickers).
