The Simcoe County District School Board is currently accepting resumes for the Educational Assistant (EA) Supply list. Applicants will not be added to the list without being thoroughly screened. Unfortunately, not all applicants will be invited for an interview. Only candidates meeting the required qualifications for EA positions will be considered. The duties, responsibilities and requirements for the EA position are not limited to the details listed below but may include all of those in the job fact sheet for EAs. Required Qualifications for all Educational Assistant positions: Educational Assistants provide support to students to achieve success in academic, behavior, social, life skills and coop situations. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, Educational Assistants contribute to the learning development and integration of all students by creating a safe and supportive environment. Educational Assistants require excellent communication, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team. These positions can be physically demanding. Position requirements may include, providing students with assistance for toileting, diapering, feeding, lifting, transferring, positioning and mobility as required. Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training or Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification would be an asset. Sign Language skills are preferred. ALL Educational Assistant positions require a relevant university degree, or a two-year college diploma in the human services field: Child and Youth Worker, Child Care Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Early Childhood Education, Educational Assistant – Special Needs Support, Human Services Administration, Registered Nurse, Sign Language Communicator, Sign Language Interpreter, Social Service Worker, Ontario Teaching Certificate. A COPY OF YOUR DIPLOMA / DEGREE MUST BE ATTACHED TO YOUR ATE PORTFOLIO. University degree holders must also attach transcripts showing related courses.
