Inside Original HP Ink

While it may seem like Original HP ink costs more than some competitor products, when considering the cost of wasted pages, reprints and reliability issues, third-party brands may be less of a bargain than they seem. HP understands that there are different types of customers with diverse printing needs and offers a wide variety of choices to help maximize value.

HP invests significantly in research and development to design and test its printers, cartridges and papers to work together seamlessly as a printing system. With decades of experience, HP ink chemists and scientists carefully formulate HP inks to deliver prints of the highest quality that last for generations.1 •• HP has introduced more than 100 different inks in the past 20 years.2 •• HP ink chemistry is so advanced that HP’s teams devote three to five years, up to 1,000 prototypes and 50,000 hours to developing a new ink formula.2 •• All HP inks are subjected to more than 20 different tests for purity and more than 50 different tests for quality attributes such as water resistance, fade resistance and color accuracy.2

How Original HP Ink Works

•• Original HP inks deliver up to 72.9 million possible color combinations for more realistic color transitions and life-like color prints that can resist fading for decades.1 •• In February 2011, a Buyer’s Laboratory Inc. (BLI) study found that on average 72 percent of tested third-party refilled ink cartridges were dead-on-arrival or failed prematurely, whereas none of the Original HP print ink cartridges tested failed.3

Affordable Choices and Greater Value

Visit www.hp.com/go/ learnaboutsupplies. •• In tests, Original HP ink cartridges printed, on average, more than two times the pages than tested refilled ink cartridges.3 •• For customers who print more frequently, HP offers inkjet cartridge multi-packs that provide additional value and high-capacity value (XL) cartridges, which typically offer up to three times more black printed pages and up to 2.5 times more color printed pages than standard Original HP cartridges.

Each nozzle in an Original HP ink cartridge print head is about one-third the width of a human hair, enabling the print head to fire droplets as small as 1.3 pL for accurate color placement and detailed images. It takes around 35 million of these microscopic ink drops to print a single 4x6 photo. Inside the
