Welcome to our Christmas newsletter! Hello! We hope that you are all looking forward to celebrating Christmas and the New Year. The Cause4 team geared up for Christmas early with its own Shackleton Challenge.

The Shackleton Challenge 2014 marks the centenary of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s famed trans-Antarctic Endurance mission and the Shackleton Foundation, a super charity supporting social entrepreneurs working with disadvantaged young people, is looking to raise funds by running the ‘My Antarctic’ campaign. On 13th December 2013 the Cause4 team walked to Greenwich in Christmas jumpers to raise money for the campaign. You can donate here to support our walk from the Shackleton statue at the Royal Geographical Society to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. In lieu of sending Christmas Cards we’re making a donation to the Shackleton Foundation to support a young leader – and we wish all our friends, clients and partners a Happy Christmas.

These entrepreneurial graduates will be based at arts organisations across the South West region at organisations including Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Hall for Cornwall, Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival and Circomedia. We are excited to welcome Matthew Ashdown, Miriam Battyen, Georgina Brown and Robin Peters we look forward to seeing how they learn and progress throughout 2014!

Sir Tom on Philanthropy

Our new chairman, Sir Thomas Hughes-Hallett has now got his feet under the desk and is excited to be working with a number of clients exploring how the power of philanthropy can be leveraged at its best. He writes ‘There is such an appetite for social change and charitable entrepreneurs to tackle need as the state continues to retreat. I sense an exciting new optimism spreading in philanthropy as more and more talented people come to be involved in giving of their time, their intellect and their money. But all too often excellence and innovation are not being disseminated. At Cause4 we want to make it easier for social entrepreneurs by pointing out the short cuts to excellence and the pitfalls that prevent it happening. 2014 promises to be a year of real progress in creating a new age in philanthropy and social change.’ In the New Year we are excited to be working with Sir Tom on a new series of collaborations where philanthropists can come together to learn from each other.

Sport in 2014 Cause4 is looking forward to working with some hugely exciting sports projects in 2014. This includes the Dream It, Believe It, Achieve It charity, which is working with a wide range of paralympic sports teams and disability sport more widely. We're also setting up new foundations for artists, sports people and entrepreneurs.

Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy - Fundraising Training Courses The Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy programme has announced a new set of fundraising training courses from January March 2014.
