MARKET ROUND UP 10 ,July, 2017 Indian Markets The NSE Nifty ended marginally lower on Friday tracking weaker global markets, but a late surge in shares of Reliance Industries Ltd erased some losses, helping it snap a three-week losing streak.The broader NIfty fell 0.09 percent to end at 9,665.80, but rose 1.5 percent on week, its biggest weekly gain since late May.The benchmark BSE Sensex closed down 0.03 percent at 31,360.63, but rose 1.42 percent for the week.

Support

Shares of Reliance Industries Ltd jumped as much as 3.83 percent to their highest since May 2, 2008 on expectations of better quarterly results.Broader losses in India were capped as some drug makers such as Lupin Ltd recovered from recent falls on value-buying. Financials and private banks weighed on the indexes with Housing Development Finance Corp Ltd and ICICI Bank Ltd down as much as 1.61 percent and 1.17 percent respectively.

US & European Markets The dollar steadied with slight gains overall after the June U.S. employment report delivered a little something for everyone, with robust jobs growth for dollar bulls, while bears focused on the subdued increase in wages. The dollar was on track for a weekly gain of 0.4 percent, its biggest weekly rise since May, though only its second weekly gain in the last six. The June employment report showed non-farm payrolls rose by 222k vs estimates for a gain of 178k. The unemployment rate rose a tenth of a percent point to 4.4% as the participation rate rose to 62.8%, signaling more people are looking for jobs. Average hourly earnings rose 0.2% m/m, missing estimates for a gain of 0.3%. European stocks ended in slightly negative territory on Friday, pushed lower by a slide in oil prices and nagging worries about the potential end of ultraloose monetary policy.TheStoxx Europe 600 SXXP, -0.07% fell 0.1% to 380.18, trimming its weekly gain to 0.2% Asian Markets Asian shares lost ground on Friday after a weak session on Wall Street, while global sovereign debt yields were elevated across the board on bets the European Central Bank is moving ever closer towards unwinding its massive monetary stimulus.MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan slipped 0.3 percent, after the Dow .DJI lost 0.7 percent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell 1 percent on Thursday, partly as higher Treasury yields dimmed the appeal of equities.. Currencies Japan's Nikkei was down 0.5 percent, South Korea's KOSPI dropped 0.3 percent and Australian stocks declined 1 percent.

Government to sell Air India in parts to attract potential buyers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet gave the go-ahead last month for the government to try to sell the airline, after successive governments spent billions of dollars in recent years to keep the airline going. India has emerged as the economic pole of global growth by surpassing China and is expected to maintain its lead over the coming decade.India has made inroads in diversifying its export base to include more complex sectors, such as chemicals, vehicles, and certain electronics. According to the Harvard University's Center for International Development (CID) growth projections, India will feature on top of the list of the fastest growing economies till 2025 with an average annual growth of 7.7 percent. 36 lakh farmers in Maharashtra having outstanding debt of 1.5lakh to get complete loan waiver. The Maharashtra government had announced a mega agricultural loan waiver of Rs 34,022 crore on June 24 after a statewide agitation by farmers earlier that month.

Shriram Group and IDFC Group have entered into an exclusivity arrangement for a period of 90 days to explore a merger between the two entities to create a USD 10 billion-plus financial powerhouse. Once merged, Shriram City Union Finance will be absorbed into IDFC Bank while Shriram Transport Finance will remain a standalone entity under the group. Shriram Life Insurance and Shriram General Insurance will have IDFC as a substantial shareholder. Merger helps to create a financial conglomerate that will have a largest mass retail universal bank platform at its centre that will help reach millions of small customers and entrepreneurs. ONGC Videsh Ltd, the overseas arm of Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has got a two-year extension to explore a Vietnamese oil block in the contested waters of the South China Sea. OVL had signed Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for the 7,058 square km Block 128 in offshore PhuKhanh Basin, Vietnam on May 24, 2006. Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), Vietnam issued investment licencefor the block on June 16, 2006. HPCL taps offshore dollar bond market to raises $500 mn. The company sold a 10-year, fixed-rate, unsecured dollar bond with a 4 percent coupon payable semi-annually and a maturity date of July 2027. The notes are rated Baa3 by Moody's and BBB- by Fitch. India's third biggest stateowned refiner will use the proceeds to fund capital expenditure.

Oil prices declined for the week, as expanded U.S. drilling activity and added production offset a larger-than-expected drop in stockpiles.Futures fell 3.9 percent, even after U.S. data on Thursday showed the nation’s crude stockpiles dropped by 6.3 million barrels, three times as much as expected.



Gold fell to the lowest in nearly four months on Friday after stronger than expected United States jobs data increased the likelihood of another U.S. interest rate increase and the dollar rose. U.S. gold futures GCcv1 for August delivery settled down 1.1 percent at $1,209.70.
