OUTSTANDING WOMEN IN SOMERSET COUNTY 2017 NOMINATIONS To celebrate Women’s History Month in March, the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women is sponsoring a program to highlight women who have made significant contributions in their professional fields, to women’s causes, or in community endeavors. We invite you or your organization to submit one or more nominations for consideration. Categories are: Arts/Entertainment/Sports; Business/Entrepreneur/Information Technology; Education; Environmental Initiatives; Government/Public/Social Service; Hometown Hero; Journalism/Media/Law; Medicine/Health Services; and Volunteerism. Criteria: Nominee must be a woman who lives in Somerset County. Selection: All nominees will be reviewed by the committee, which may select one individual in each field as outstanding. Presentation: The honorees will be acknowledged at a dinner sponsored by the commission on March 10, 2017. Please use the following nomination form

OUTSTANDING WOMEN IN SOMERSET COUNTY CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA The Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women, to celebrate Women’s History Month in March, is sponsoring a program to highlight women who have made significant contributions in their professional fields, to women’s causes or in community endeavors. Nominee must be a woman who lives in Somerset County. The nominee must be agreeable to the nomination and to subsequent public recognition. All nominees will be reviewed by the commission selection committee that may select one individual in each field as outstanding. Nominations should be as specific as possible, citing the ways the nominee has demonstrated outstanding performance or dedication in her job or community. Categories are:   

 

   

Arts/Entertainment/Sports: Professionals, e.g. director or performer (theater or museum), or civic volunteers (local theater or arts). Women who either are athletes or are involved in athletics/sports. Education: Teachers or administrators in public, private schools or higher education who have been innovative or very dedicated. Business/Entrepreneur/Information Technology: Women who have founded their own businesses, who may have developed a unique idea or service. Business may be large or small – operate from residence, office or store. Business Managers, corporate officials, customer service, research, engineering, scientists, etc. Also organization executives such as chambers of commerce, trade associations, etc. Computer programmers, Web site designers, Internet service providers, software developers and others who have contributed to the IT field in the business, government or nonprofit sectors. Environmental Initiatives: Women who have been active in “green” initiatives either through their business or in volunteer work. Government/Public/Social Service: Government or non-profit agencies: elected officials, administrators, or staff who have made unique contributions or have performed outstanding service. Administrators or staff of community agencies, professional practitioners dealing with social issues/services. Hometown Hero: Women who have made a unique difference in the lives of others, who have given of themselves unselfishly and whose efforts have gone “above and beyond” to help others or to improve the quality of life in their communities. Journalism/Media/Law: Writers, editors, commentators, authors whose work has significantly affected community life. Women in private practice, public office, corporate or government administration of law. Medicine/Health Services: Doctors, nurses, professionals in public health or private practice, research and rehabilitation. Volunteerism: Women who donate time, skills or experience to assist the community in worthy or charitable causes.
