Dear Sara I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks and admiration for Kier Pritchard and Paul Mills in their handling of the attempted murder of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury this month. To have the eyes of the world thrust upon them as this operation developed would have been daunting for any officer, let alone on day one of their tenure as Temporary Chief Constable and Deputy Chief Constable. As I am sure you are aware, the scale of the police response to this incident has been vast and would stretch normal resource levels in many forces across the country. As a small force, Wiltshire Police has demonstrated to a global audience its ability to ‘stand up’ at time of crisis. This is a testament to all the officers and staff employed by the force, but I have no doubt that this is a direct result of Kier and Paul’s collective leadership. I have been impressed by their professionalism, commitment and leadership throughout this intensive period which is a credit to themselves and Wiltshire Police.
