LETTER WRITING WORKSHOP: ADVOCATING FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS Tuesday 5 December, 12.45–1.30pm Cathedral Room, Cardinal Knox Centre, 383 Albert Street, East Melbourne Do you intend to write letters to your MP on burning issues but never translate it into action? Here’s your chance! Catholic Social Services Victoria's ‘Welcome the asylum seeker’ parish support program is hosting a lunchtime letter writing session. The goal is to write a letter or two to mail to your Member of Parliament or senator, which is much more effective than email as it is harder to ignore. Agencies frequently indicate that letters do have an impact. When MPs receive many letters on an issue it sends a strong signal that people care and they must take some positive action. Bring your lunch and your colleagues. Information sheets, writing paper, envelopes and stamps will all be provided.
