The Position The Park Ranger will provide information and assistance to the public, interpret and enforce laws, rules, regulations and the Fremont Municipal Code pertaining to park and recreation facilities.

 Provide information and assistance to the public;

interpret park policies and procedures to the public; as a public officer, enforce the Fremont Municipal Code within parks; issue citations or warnings; detain or arrest offenders only as may be required.  Investigate complaints, crime and injury accidents.  Provide periodic backup support to all City recrea-

tion facilities and parks as may be required.  Conduct wildlife management activities as may be

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will possess experience in the development and implementation of environmental education programming. The successful candidate will have the ability to work courteously and effectively with the public and their co-workers (team) in order to maintain the safety and enjoyment of all park visitors through interpretation of local laws, codes, and regulations. Licenses/Certificates/Special Requirements

Education and Experience

A valid Class C California Driver’s License is required at time of appointment.

Any combination of education and/or experience which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to satisfactory job performance would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required

Valid certificates in Red Cross Standard First Aid and Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalents are highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits The annual salary is $54,345—$65,396 depending on qualifications. Current benefit features include: Cal PERS Retirement Benefit*  Classic Employees - 2% @ 60 benefit, 3 year final average compensation.  New Employees - 2 % @ 62 benefit, 3 year final average compensation.  Required PERS contributions vary by plan. All required contributions are tax deferred.  Cafeteria Benefits Plan for employees/ dependents includes $1,521 monthly for vision, medical and dental plans; child care and medical expenses can be paid for with pre-tax dollars.
