PART-TIME COMPUTER INSTRUCTOR (C444) Position Description Philadelphia Parks and Recreation seeks a part time Computer Instructor (CI) to manage Public Access Computer Centers (PCCs) located in Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) locations. The goal of the PCCs is to provide free access to computers, the internet, and tech training for all Philadelphians to help bridge the digital divide. The Computer Instructor will support these goals. Qualifications Applicant must have the ability to: •
Manage a computer lab for a diverse population, including children and adults of all skill and literacy levels;
•
Create and support a respectful learning environment;
•
Use, understand, and explain Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;
•
Learn new computer programs, software and web-applications quickly;
•
Manage a variety of job assignments and tasks.
Responsibilities •
Work directly with PPR Facility supervisors to support implementation of programs by integrating computers;
•
Help users apply best practices for using technology;
•
Assist adults and children in their use of computers to pursue personal, educational, or work related goals;
•
Implement individual and group computer-related trainings with PCC visitors;
•
Partner with organizations and individuals working to end the digital divide;
•
Gather and submit attendance data;
•
Monitor computers for proper usage and troubleshoot problems;
•
Complete mandatory training prior to placement
Location: To be decided. There are several Recreation Centers that need Computer Instructors in different parts of the city. Requirements
•
The employee must establish a bona fide residence in Philadelphia within six (6) months
of appointment, and must thereafter maintain a bona fide residence in Philadelphia for the length of this appointment. •
