Job Summary Provides a variety of support services including case management, assessment, life skills development, problem solving, and conflict resolution and crisis intervention. Day‐to‐day support of the tenants, maintenance, security, and cleaning for the building. Qualifications Diploma in a related human/social service field. At least one (1) year experience working in a related environment, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have experience in the community social services sector with demonstrated working knowledge of community support agencies and resources. May require a Class 5 Driver’s License along with a Driver’s Abstract. Required to complete the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check prior to commencement of employment. Skills & Abilities: Current Level I First Aid certificate. Demonstrated knowledge/familiarity with related resources such as mental health system and related agencies, social assistance system, and addiction support agencies. Demonstrated suitability to work with disadvantaged adults presenting challenging behaviours in a diverse environment. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated physical/mental ability to perform the duties of the job. Demonstrated ability to work with others collaboratively. Demonstrated ability to understand and maintain client/worker boundaries
Additional Information The Support Worker may be exposed to and in contact with dust, dirt, cleaning chemicals/fumes, germs, bodily fluids and human waste. Program activities will require a moderate level of physical fitness i.e. walking, standing, bending, and lifting to effectively carry out the duties of this position.
