Media Release October 10, 2016 Case:2016-15172 On October 10, 2016 at 9:40AM our department received a report from school administrators of a threat posted via a twitter posting to “shoot up” a school within the Perry Local School District. This was posted via a Twitter account from “Frown the Clown”. Perry Township Police Detectives were assigned to this case immediately. An in-depth thorough investigation was conducted throughout the day, and concluded around 7:30pm tonight with an arrest being made of a 7th grader (12years of age). The juvenile involved was charged with one(1) count of inducing panic a felony of the 2nd degree and booked into the Juvenile Attention Center. Similar threats have been investigated throughout the Ohio area over the last several weeks. I would like to take this opportunity to impress upon parents to speak with your children about the importance of making good decisions and not to engage in this type of behavior. Parents a need to take an active role in monitoring the social media accounts and activities of their children on electronic devices. Our department has and will continue to devote the necessary resource(s) to protect our school districts. I would like to credit the successful outcome of this case to the teamwork between the police department and school district that occurs on a consistent basis. Attached to this media release are some of the postings we recovered in the investigation. Please contact Chief Michael T. Pomesky with any additional questions regarding this release.
