Hot Industry Predictions Came to Pass During 2010, the health care sector overall grew by 544,000 jobs, making it the largest industry in the United States, accounting for 13.5 million jobs. According to the US Department of Labor the need for Clinical Medical Assistants is expected to grow by 34% by 2018.

What is a Clinical Medical Assistant? Where do they Work? Clinical medical assistants assist physicians and other medical professionals with patient care. They work in a physician’s office or clinic setting. Clinical Medical Assistants work under the direct supervision of a physician or licensed medical professional (nurses/nurse practitioners) and perform many clinical tasks. Medical Assistants can pursue nursing careers, physical therapy careers, physician’s assistant careers using their education and clinical experience.

Clinical Medical Assistant Program Summary  14 Weeks plus Externship  This course combines 134-hours of classroom instruction

(including 42 hours of online training) with a 160-hour clinic externship to provide you with a complete learning experience.  Total – 294 Hours

 Externships in physician’s offices, (MD’s- all

specialties) clinics, or hospitals.

Pre-Requisites  18 years of age by externship placement  High school diploma or equivalent (GED)  Take the HOBET Math and English assessment prior and receive focused learning modules.

HOBET Test 50 Math & English Questions Scores Do NOT eliminate students from registration. The HOBET is designed for assessment and remediation. Results indicate online resources students will need to pursue to be successful.

Boston Reed staff Boston Reed has contracts with outpatient clinic and physicians’ offices Hours range from 24-40 hours/week Students placed within 90 days of course completion if available 40 hrs/wk, 180 days if less than 40 hrs/wk. However – we are now placing within 25 - 30 days! Be Available! Students are not paid during externship

After the Externship Completion  Students turn in Externship Booklet to Boston Reed  Students receive Certificate of Completion  Clinical Medical Assistants can pursue optional professional

Prior to being placed in some externship settings students may be asked to undergo  Drug testing: $45  Background check: $41
