Some think that wood blocks are just as good, but after a few years in the sun and weather, they deteriorate and threaten the roofing system.
The line of original PipeGuard Pipe Supports is designed to support most common roof-top pipes from ½- to 5-inches (10 to 125mm) in diameter. Made from heavy duty EPDM, PipeGuard does not require any tools for installation. Simply compress base to “open” pipe clamp, and place it around the pipe. Position in place and you’re finished. Typical installation time is less than 10 seconds.
Consider the time and effort that goes into a wood block support. The diagram at left shows all the steps involved. That’s a lot of work! And you might need a slip sheet as well. Once you add all the time and labor, the real cost for wood is much more than you thought. More important, you probably have better things for your crew to do than run around making supports that don’t work well and won’t last. RUBBER STRUT PIPE SUPPORTS Rubber strut models are designed to support multiple pipes at heights from 4- to 10-inches (100 to 255mm) off the roof. Weather resistant heavy duty EPDM bases won’t rot or damage roof covers and allows for pipe expansion and contraction. Each features a low profile, 15⁄8-inch (40mm) wide galvanized strut channel and can be used for single or multiple pipes.
