POSITION SUMMARY The Communications Assistant will assist in the development and delivery of communications for the Social Policy Research Centre (SPRC) and Centre for Social Research in Health (CSRH), in consultation with the Communications Coordinator and Centre staff. This includes creating and maintaining website content, building and distributing email campaigns, and designing research reports and other publications. The Social Policy Research Centre (SPRC) and Centre for Social Research in Health (CSRH) are multidisciplinary research centres located within UNSW Arts and Social Sciences. They undertake a broad-based dynamic program of research on contemporary national and international social policy and health issues. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • • •

Create, maintain and publish high quality digital content for the SPRC and CSRH websites, including liaising with Centre Academic Staff for updates. Create and publish high quality research collateral and outputs (e.g. survey recruitment materials, project reports). Coordinate editorial production and design of material created by the Centres (including annual reports). Proof-read and edit staff-produced content before it is disseminated to an external audience through various channels. Build and distribute email campaigns (e.g. newsletters, event invites) and maintain subscriber lists. Sourcing and selecting appropriate images for use throughout the SPRC and CSRH websites and research publications. Work with Centre Academic Staff to design research publications that are visually appealing, easy to read and comply with Faculty and University brand guidelines Ensure compliance with Faculty and University web and brand policies and guidelines. Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.

SELECTION CRITERIA • Demonstrated experience working on communications activities including desktop publishing, proof-reading and editing. • Demonstrated experience working on digital communications activities and developing content and copy for the web. • Well-developed skills working with the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. • Experience working with online content management systems, WYSIWYG content editors and email marketing applications. • Previous experience in developing and implementing email campaigns. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated capability of online writing and editing skills for diverse audiences, including the ability to apply a corporate voice. • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
