Job Summary: The Sylvan Adams YM-YWHA (‘’the Y’’) is a not-for profit organization that plays a prominent role in the life of the Jewish community in Montreal, upholding a long rich history of Jewish values and traditions for more than 100 years. This position is responsible for all of the graphic design needs of the organization. In collaboration with the Director of Communications-Marketing and the Social Media Marketing Manager, the Graphic Designer is responsible for the creation and design of program flyers, event collateral (invitations, posters, letterheads, forms, sponsor banners, displays), posters, business cards, banners, newspaper ads, brochures, the Program book, ad books, and the Beacon. In addition, the Graphic Designer is responsible for the creation of digital content, including website advertisements, reformatted versions of the flyers for the digital screens and other publicity content. Description of mandate: • Coordinates incoming graphic requests and prioritizes according to deadline • Designs collateral materials, advertisements other files for events, courses, membership, and special projects • Creates the Program Book, the Beacon Magazine and the AGM Book as well as logos and templates • Contributes creative design ideas for each project, and researches design and color trends • Maintains a photo data bank from various sources • Maintains a style guide and protects brand/logo usage • Posts flyers on the various boards around the Y • Mounts the 20X40 and the Vistaprint banners around the Y • Consults with staff, when required, on details of a project such as the size, format or design of a project, and creates a written brief when necessary • Updates current flyers according to semesters, and creates new ones for new programs and events • Sends out queries for quotes on projects when required • Prepares files for printing and sends them to the printers when required • Edits and formats text to fit the design of flyers, brochures, banners, etc. • Sends texts for translation into French • Sends completed newspaper and magazine advertisements to the Social Media Marketing Manager • Maintains a database of all files and jobs, and is accountable for delivery files per specified deadlines • Reconciles invoices with orders placed by Graphic Designer Candidate profile: • Minimum 5 years of related experience • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Acrobat, Word and Excel • Knowledgeable in printing process, social media standards, advertising, flyers, brochures and magazine style layouts • Able to handle many projects at one time, and must be detail oriented • Experience working on a Mac • Bilingual Application process: Interested candidates are invited to submit their cover letter, resume and portfolio link to the Human Resources Department, by email, to [email protected] by November 1, 2017.
