POSITION INFORMATION Vacancy Announcement: UNEP/ROLAC – Brazil Office Project: Sustainable Consumption and Production in Brazil Type of Contract: Consultant Duration: 2 months Closing date for application: June 15th, 2015. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT The objective of this Term of Reference is to hire an interpreter to translate the Sustainable Consumption and Production Action Plan - 1st Cycle of Implementation Report. All the services to be rendered under the present Terms of Reference will have a direct impact on the development and implementation of the project "Sustainable Consumption and Production in Brazil". FUNCTIONS / KEY RESULTS EXPECTED Outputs Product 1 –Translation from Portuguese to English language of the Sustainable Consumption and Production Action Plan - 1st Cycle of Implementation Report Expected results Translated document delivered on time in great quality, and attending UNEP standards. The norms for English language must be respected. Specific tasks and responsibilities Permanent communication with the teams from MMA/SAIC/DPCS and UNEP; Participation in face-to-face meetings or telephone conferences with the technical staff involved in the project; Willingness to be present when needed; Submit the product for comment and approval of MMA/SAIC/DPCS and UNEP; Deliver revised document and make adjustments when requested. DELIVERY REMUNERATION SCHEDULE Payments shall be made upon satisfactory delivery of products as per the table below, where D is the date of the contract’s last signature. Outputs

* Conditions for payment are: delivery of product 1 within the deadline established on the column “delivery date” and approval of this product. Reviews may be requested throughout the approval process. Payment will only be made upon final approval. REPORTING LINES The recruited contractor will perform his or her duties and responsibilities under Project Coordination and UNEP Brazil Office supervision. COMPETENCIES AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS Professionalism: Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to the area of work; good research, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to apply judgment in the work environment; the capacity to plan own work and manage conflicting priorities; Commitment to Continuous Learning: Willingness to keep abreast of new developments in the field of information technology; Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft/edit variety of written reports and to articulate ideas in a clear and concise style; Technological Awareness: Ability to make effective use of required computer software and other equipment relevant to the post; Teamwork: Very good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural organization. Ability to provide effective support in relation to work conducted by colleagues. RECRUITMENT QUALIFICATIONS Education University Degree in Language Studies, Foreign Language, or any other related field. Professional experience Minimum of 3 (three) years of experience in translations of texts from Portuguese to English and English to Portuguese; Knowledge of environmental and sustainability vocabulary and terms; Knowledge of UN terms and vocabulary; Previous experience at the UN System is an asset; Proven experience in translating printed publications; Ability to work and establish working relationships with development agencies, government representatives, private sector and non-governmental organizations; Capacity to deliver the expected results under pressure and in a short notice period.
