Deadline to apply: June 3, 2016 @ 4pm Contract Details: Contract Period: 8 weeks Hourly Rate: $13.00 Hours Per Week: 31.5 Monday-Thursday: 9am-4:30pm; Friday: 8:30-12pm Start Date: June 27, 2016 End Date: August 19, 2016 Eligibility Requirements: Funding for the position is provided by Canada Summer Jobs. Participants must meet the following criteria. Between 15-30 years of age Registered as a full time student during the most recent academic year Intend to return to school full time in the 2016-2017 academic year Student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations. Position Summary: The Administrative Assistant supports the work of staff and volunteers at United Way Peterborough & District in a position that requires the ability to manage multiple clerical, communications and organizational tasks discreetly, accurately and promptly while maintaining a focus on the mission of the organization at all times. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Administrative and Logistical Support: General o Provides back-up general reception duties; handling telephone calls and office visitors in a friendly and professional manner o Provides clerical support to United Way Peterborough’s staff o Perform word processing and editing of spreadsheets o Assist with the planning and implementation of the Backpacks for Kids program o Assist with the maintenance of general office filing system, agency files, board and committee files o Assist with mailings/RSVP lists for events, and meetings
Position Description United Way of Peterborough & District JOB POSTING - Administrative Assistant - Contract o Assist with volunteer program administration o Other duties as assigned Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Required: o Proven computer skills including competency in data entry o Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and internet searches o Proven ability to speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate tools and techniques o Exceptional customer services skills for the management of public inquiries and referrals to service providers o Extremely detail orientated, precise and organized o Ability to manage time appropriately; show initiative; exercise good judgment, diplomacy, tact and courtesy to determine the appropriate course of action o Works cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions Working Conditions / Physical Environment: o Work is completed in an environmentally controlled office building between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Thursdays; and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary. o Two paid 15 minute break periods are provided with one hour unpaid lunch break.
