Position Title: Assistant Controller Classification: Exempt Department: Finance and Administration Reports To: Director of Finance

Provides assistance to the Director of Finance/ (Controller) for daily accounting operations and budgeting activity

Responsibilities 1. Assist with budget preparation and monitoring process; manage budget grid (complex Excel spreadsheet) and update weekly; prepare reports using Financial Edge accounting system as needed; slice and dice financial info for ad hoc reports as needed. 2. Provide financial information to Development Department for grant proposals and donor reports. 3. Assist with year-end audit; manage auditor’s schedule of requests and provide schedules requested; assist with preparation of financial statements and footnotes 4. Manage daily cash activities; assess daily and weekly cash availability vs needs; propose cash transfers as needed; process all wire transfers; download daily bank activity, review bank reconciliations. Assist in preparation of annual cash flow projection and update weekly. 5. Oversee Cash Receipts Accountant and assist with more complex ticket income and gift income transactions and reconciliations; liaise with credit card processor as needed; allocate credit card expense by program; maintain temporarily restricted gift schedule and Charitable Gift Annuity schedule. 6. Manage corporate credit card activities, 1099 filing, year-end accrual schedule and other expense related activities; prepare quarterly account analyses; maintain Trial Balance. 7. Miscellaneous duties as required. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 5+ years’ experience as practicing accountant; high proficiency in Excel; reliable and self-motivated with excellent communications and interpersonal skills. CPA with knowledge of non-profit accounting, preferred; knowledge of Financial Edge and Tessitura highly desirable. An interest in classical music is helpful.
