FOCUS FIRST & LAST NAME:____________________________________
Focus means: “I concentrate really hard on one thing at a time-- and don’t let anything distract me!” We need to focus when we are learning something new. We also need to focus when we are doing something difficult, challenging or potentially dangerous if we do not focus! When we focus, we can achieve our goals! Below, read about each of our friends. How can they stay focused even when there are so many distractions? Help them to decide what they should do! Put a circle around all the answers that you think are good ideas! Ty was trying to pay attention in class. Pat kept making funny faces at him. Ty couldn’t focus. What do you think he should do? He can kick Pat in the leg to get him to stop.
He can ask Pat to stop making funny faces.
He can ask the teacher if he can move away from Pat’s seat.
He can yell, scream and stomp his feet until Pat stops.
Mike was trying to practice. His sister and her friend were singing and dancing. He couldn’t focus. What do you think he should do? He could practice in a different room.
He can ask them to play in a different room.
He can hide under his bed until they stop.
He can play with them instead of practicing.
Emma had a lot on her mind. She couldn’t settle down to read before bed. She was thinking about school, friends and what she did today. She couldn’t focus. What do you think she should do? She can stay up all night.
