Planning Commission to hold Sign Code Work Session CHEYENNE – The City of Cheyenne Planning Commission will host a Sign Code Work Session as part of their regular meeting on Tuesday, January 16 at 6:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers located at 2101 O’Neil Avenue. The session provides an opportunity for public input before further action is taken. The work session will allow the Planning Commission and the public to learn about the challenges and issues of the current sign code. It will also give the Planning Commission and the public an opportunity to provide and explore feedback on how the sign code can be improved. Staff has identified sign code issues based on specific challenges, input from stakeholders, staff’s experience with the code, and research into best practices. The work session agenda and informational material discussing the challenges with the sign code will be available via email, the City website, or in hard copy in room 202 of the Municipal Building (2101 O’Neil Avenue). Material on the City’s website can be found at www.cheyennecity.org/2437/Annual-ReviewCode-Amendments A general amendment to the Sign Code was assigned first priority by the Planning Commission on the 2017 Unified Development Code (UDC) Annual Review Work Program. Based on the direction given to staff through the work session, amendments to the sign code will be submitted to the Planning Commission later in the year. The Sign Code is found in the UDC. Sign definitions and dimensional interpretations are found in UDC Section 1.4, and sign regulations are found in UDC Section 6.5.
