On Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 11:19 a.m., San Bruno Police Officers responded to the 2300 Block of Crestmoor Drive regarding the report of a residential burglary in progress. When officers arrived at the residence one of the suspects fled in a vehicle and a brief pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle was involved in a collision in the area of Crestmoor Drive and Bennington Drive. The suspect fled from the collision on foot into the campus of John Muir Elementary School. The campus was quickly locked down and the suspect was apprehended on an adjacent street a short time later without further incident. That suspect, twenty-three year old Derrick Warren of Vallejo, will be booked into San Mateo County Jail for charges related to burglary, evading the police, and hit and run. A second suspect fled on foot from the residence, and despite a lengthy search involving numerous officers, K9’s, and air support units, he was not located. It is not believed that there is any ongoing threat to residents or the school as a result of this incident. There were no occupants in the home at the time of this burglary. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Anyone with any information related to this crime is urged to contact the San Bruno Police Department at (650) 616-7100 or by email: [email protected]. Information can be left anonymously. Most residential burglars select a target where they believe no one is home. Alert neighbors provide the biggest help to police in solving these crimes. Please immediately report any suspicious activity to the Police Department via 9-1-1.
