“THE OTHER SAND FIRE EVACUEES” - 768 PETS - CARED FOR IN 8 LOCATIONS BY COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES DEPT OF ANIMAL CARE & CONTROL 345 horses, 165 goats, 111 chickens, 33 pigs and many other animals including llama, mules, sheep, rabbits, ducks, turkeys, donkeys… and even a Brahma bull are under the watchful care of County of Los Angeles staff, volunteers, and mutual aid partners today. Shelter locations include: The Antelope Valley Fair Grounds, Hansen Dam, and Pierce College. County of Los Angeles Animal Care Centers at Lancaster, Agoura, Castaic, and Palmdale are providing care to evacuated pets including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs! Shelter is also being provided at the Hart and Highland evacuation shelters where the emergency sheltering Ani-Safe trailers are parked and manned by County staff, volunteers and partners. The department is thankful for its mutual aid partners from SPCA LA, The City of Los Angeles, Riverside County and San Bernardino County.
