BMJ Press Release Announcing the launch of BMJ Awards South Asia Celebrating excellence in healthcare across South Asia, 30 October 2015 at The Leela, Mumbai After the success of BMJ Awards India in 2014, we are pleased to announce BMJ Awards South Asia later this year. In 2014, India’s most senior healthcare professionals, industry executives, government officials, academics, and researchers came together in New Delhi for the very first BMJ Awards India. From more than 500 submissions, 30 finalists were shortlisted across 10 categories, which included ground-breaking research and innovations to improve patient care. The winners were announced at a glittering ceremony, attended by top healthcare dignitaries and an esteemed jury panel of eminent thought leaders, senior experienced doctors, and industry veterans from various healthcare organizations. Last year’s winners included teams from eminent institutions like Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) Pondicherry, Fortis Hospital, Mulund, Mumbai, Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, and Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, among others. This year BMJ Awards are back - on a scale larger than before. Nominations are being sought across the region, from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Myanmar, and
Maldives. And the categories will include healthcare quality, medical education, technological innovation and research, and clinical excellence. We hope the winners and finalists of these categories will demonstrate true potential to influence change and improve health outcomes in South Asia.
