PRESS RELEASE Visión Américas launches InterAmericanSecurityWatch.com Washington, D.C., April 5, 2011: Ambassador Roger Noriega, Visiting Fellow at American Enterprise Institute and Managing Director of Visión Américas, a firm that specializes in in Latin American political, economic, and security issues, today announced the launch of a new weblog, InterAmericanSecurityWatch.com (IASW), a site dedicated to distributing the latest economic, political, and security information about the Western Hemisphere. “There are very real threats growing in the region. We have to examine them, develop effective responses, and promote constructive alternatives. The battle begins with reliable information,” said Noriega. “The goal of IASW is to start the conversation in Washington, a bipartisan conversation that leads to developing a sensible policy that addresses the threat of narco-trafficking and hostile regimes in Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, and elsewhere. We also must advance the much-needed free trade agreements with countries like Colombia.” Unlike similar sites, IASW will combine original content and serve as a platform for news and opinion about Latin America drawn from the region’s leading publications. The resources page will have talking points and summaries of important articles as well as original analysis about events in key countries. “Our goal is to make the information as readily accessible as possible,” said VA Associate José R. Cárdenas. “We know that Washington moves at a very fast-pace, and policymakers need information that is quick and on-point.”
