How to Operate your Bed We recommend that you take the time to thoroughly read this manual from the beginning to make yourself familiar with the operations and features of your new Platinum 6 Bed. Should you have any queries after you have read this manual, please feel free to contact our Customer Care Department on 1800 777 042 or alternatively get in contact with your Niagara Sales Consultant. Thank you for choosing to invest in the Platinum 6 Bed.

Massage Functions First, press the ‘Power/Timer’ button to activate the control. You will notice ‘10min’ will appear in the centre of the screen. Each subsequent push of this button will increase the timer by a further 10 minutes, up to a maximum of 60 minutes. Once ‘60min’ is reached, a further press of the ‘Power/Timer’ button will return the timer back to ‘10min’. Once you have selected the time you desire, press the ‘Back Massage Increase’ button to activate the back massage motor. As you press this button you will notice the bars on the right hand side of the screen increase with the intensity of the massage. This ‘massage intensity’ display will remain on the screen for approximately 5 seconds before disappearing, with the massage staying set at the intensity you have selected. Please note, the massage motors are programmed to ‘wind down’, so you do not experience a sudden ‘off’ sensation. Next, press the ‘Leg Massage Increase’ button to activate the leg massage. Set the intensity to the setting you desire. You will notice the bars on screen as the massage intensity is set. You will notice that the timer automatically counts down in one minute increments, giving you the time remaining of your massage.

Massage Type Your new Platinum 6 Bed features three types of massage for you to choose from. A brief description of each follows; Standard Massage (STD) - this is a constant frequency, giving a steady continuous massage delivered at the level you select. Cycloid Poly Modulation® Massage (CPM) - this Cycloid Vibration Therapy (CVT) setting delivers the therapy in a surging motion. Again the speed and intensity can be increased and decreased at the push of a button. Tranquilssage® Massage (T/S) - this massage type produces a slow, gentle wave action after a long tiresome day.

20

When first switching on your massage motors, the ‘Standard’ massage will be the default option. ‘STD” will not be displayed at this point. Pressing the ‘Massage Type’ button will toggle between the three types of massage described above (in the order described above). Simply press the ‘Massage Type’ button until you have selected the massage you prefer at that time. To turn the massage function OFF before the automatic timer has expired, simply press and hold the ‘Power/Timer’ button for approximately three seconds, or until the screen switches off.

Lift Functions To Raise the Back of the bed - simply press and hold the ‘Back Raise’ button on the remote. Release the button and the bed will stop in that position. To Lower the Back of the bed - simply press and hold the ‘Back Lower’ button on the remote. Release the button and the bed will stop in that position. To Raise the Leg section of the bed - simply press and hold the ‘Leg Raise’ button on the remote. Release the button and the bed will stop in that position. To Lower the Leg section of the bed - simply press and hold the ‘Leg Lower’ button on the remote. Release the button and the bed will stop in that position. You do not need to activate the ‘Power/Timer’ button in order to raise or lower the Bed. The ‘Power/Timer’ button only needs to be activated to use the massage functions.

Other Features Preset ‘Favourite’ Positions - the Platinum 6 Bed has a special feature that allows you to program up to two of your favourite positions into the bed’s memory. Once set up, all you need to do is switch the remote on by pressing the ‘Power/Timer’ button once, and then pressing one of the two ‘Favourite Position’ buttons. The bed will then automatically adjust to your chosen settings, including the head and leg positions, the massage intensity, massage type and the length of time on the timer. For your ease, we have marked the buttons on your control as a ‘Favourite Sleeping Position’ and a ‘Favourite Reading Position’. Please note that these buttons need to be set-up prior to their use. To set-up your two Favourite Positions, please follow this procedure: On Installation Only 1. Lower both the back and leg positions to the lower/flat level position. Once the bed has reached the flat/level position, please hold each of the ‘lower’ buttons (one at a time) for a further 6 seconds. To Change your Favourite Position 1. Raise the Back section to your desired position. 2. Then raise the Leg section to your desired position. 3. Press the ‘Power/Timer’ button until you reach your desired time. 4. Adjust massage intensity for the Head and Leg massage motors using ‘Back Massage Increase’ and ‘Leg Massage Increase’ buttons, until you reach your desired massage levels. 5. Select the type of massage you wish to save by pressing the ‘Massage Type’ button. 6. Press the ‘Lamp’ button. 7. Press the preferred ‘Favourite Reading Position’ button or ‘Favourite Sleeping Position’ button until the screen flashes NOTE: This must be completed within five seconds of pressing the ‘Lamp’ button. The ‘Favourite Positions’ button is now stored. To alter and save new position, repeat steps 1-7. You will need to follow this procedure to set up both of the ‘Favourite Positions’ buttons. Should you wish to change a ‘Favourite position’ setting you have already stored, simply repeat the procedure above and this will save your new ‘Favourite Position’ over the previous.

24

Lamp - when the remote is switched on, any press of a button will illuminate the screen (except for raising and lowering the head and leg sections). In addition to this, the ‘Lamp’ button when pressed will illuminate the screen for approximately 10 seconds (can be used when the remote is switched off). Child Lock - for your safety the control is fitted with a Child Lock, to stop any unwanted use of the bed. Please note that you can only activate the Child Lock when the remote is switched off (the position of the bed does not matter). Remember, if you have two remotes ensure both are locked if children are present. To activate the Child Lock - press and hold the ‘Lamp’ button, then simultaneously press the ‘Leg Raise’ button. The Child Lock is indicated by a ‘key’ displayed on the screen. To deactivate the Child Lock - press and hold the ‘Power/Timer’ button for approx 5 seconds, or until the remote switches on. The Child Lock is now deactivated and the ‘key’ image will be removed from the LCD screen. Battery Back-Up - your Platinum 6 Bed features a Battery Back-Up system that allows you to reposition the bed in the event of a mains power loss. NOTE: The massage motors will not work without mains power. Upon resumption of mains power supply the battery back up is automatically recharged. Once mains power is restored you can resume normal operation of the bed. Your favourite preset positions will remain programmed. However, if necessary to re-set your ‘Favourite’ preset positions you will need to recalibrate your bed by resetting the head and leg lift motors on the bed. Please follow this procedure; 1. Raise the back of the bed slightly. 2. Next lower the Back to the flat/level position and then keep the ‘Back Lower’ button depressed for a further 6 seconds. 3. Repeat this same sequence for the Leg section of the bed (do this one section at a time, do not try to do both at once). Failure to follow this procedure exactly as stated above, will result in your preset ‘Favourite Positions’ not functioning correctly. If required, only use an Authorised Installer to change the back-up battery, located within the stainless steel casing of the Platinum 6 bed control module.

25

Safety Features In the event of the remote being removed from the room/area the bed is in (out of range), the bed will automatically shut down as a safety precaution. When the bed is adjusting to one of your preset ‘Favourite Positions’, a single press of the ‘Power/Timer’ button will stop the bed completely, or one press of any ‘Raise’ or ‘Lower’ button will stop the Lift Motors only. In addition to the above safety features, the Platinum 6 Bed also has an integrated upholstered surround, to reduce the risk of anything becoming caught in the frame. The frame has been designed to reduce scissor points and the risk of injury. Always ensure there are no foreign objects, children or pets under your bed before lowering either the back or leg sections.

Trouble Shooting Remote Signal Problems Your Platinum 6 Bed features a cordless RF Remote Control. Please note that the antenna for the remote is located in the lower left hand edge (when looking at the front of the control). If you cover this area of the remote with your hand, the signal strength will be reduced and you may experience some difficulties in operation. The antenna range is variable depending on the individual characteristics of the room. The remote is designed for use whilst in the bed, so best operation is achieved within a 1 metre radius from the edge of the bed. The remote should be held away from the body for optimal signal strength. When a low signal strength is received, this is signified by the display of the ‘Antenna’ symbol on the display. Simply move the remote closer to the bed, and/or adjust the way you are holding the remote. In the event of the remote being removed from the room/area the bed is in (out of range), the Bed will automatically shut down as a safety precaution. To ensure hassle free operation, DO NOT store the remote closer than 30cm to a cordless phone.

26

Low Remote Battery When at full power, the battery icon will not display. As the batteries go flat, the battery icon will appear. As the batteries continue to drain, the battery icon will change so that only the outline is displayed. We recommend changing batteries at this point. Do not use rechargeable batteries. Failure to change the remote batteries will cause the batteries to become completely drained. At this point the remote will automatically switch off and the outline of the battery will flash. The batteries must be replaced at this point. Please use two standard AA size batteries (NOT rechargeable batteries). Lost Remote In the event of a lost or damaged remote, we can supply a replacement control. Contact the Warranty/Service Department on Free Call 1800 240 298 to arrange a replacement remote. New Zealand customers call 0800 735 433. When Should I Unplug My Bed? Under normal circumstances the mains power should be left switched on at the wall. Only during electrical storms or extended periods without use, do we recommend that the bed be unplugged from the wall. Do I Need to Turn My Mattress? The P6 Pillow Top Mattress are a one sided design. You do not need to turn it over. Please note, the mattress can be rotated.
