Title: Program Director Organization Summary Project Sunshine empowers a dynamic and dedicated corps of over 15,000 volunteers to bring programming – recreational (arts), educational (tutoring and mentoring) and social service (HIV and nutritional counseling) – to 100,000 children facing medical challenges and their families in 175 cities across the United States, and in four international satellite locations: Canada, China, Israel, and Kenya. Project Sunshine trains and equips volunteers to deliver enrichment programming in medical facilities, restoring a crucial sense of normalcy in the pediatric healthcare environment. The Program Director will join a passionate and energetic Project Sunshine team at a time of significant organizational advancement. She/he will work as a member of a fast-paced full-time staff of 15 (and additional limited-term staff, senior interns and consultants) at the organization’s headquarters in NYC. Job Description As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Program Director will be responsible for the oversight and management of international programming (60% of duties). In addition, she/he will manage specified domestic programming and will be responsible for organizational and programmatic projects and initiatives that advance the institution’s core mission (40% of duties). Reporting to the Executive Director she/he will join two other Program Directors in leading Project Sunshine’s program agenda. She/he will supervise one staff member in NYC as well as two coordinators and two consultants located in international satellites; and will serve as the key program liaison with Project Sunshine’s affiliate organization in Canada. Principle Responsibilities Program Leadership and Management   

In collaboration with Project Sunshine Senior Team, assume a leadership role at headquarters in advancing Project Sunshine program goals and in leading initiatives and projects benefiting the organization’s ongoing operations and advancement In collaboration with Program Directors, oversee volunteer recruitment, training and supervision methods; implement a new Salesforce volunteer database; and further enhance program monitoring and evaluation Engage in donor relations and preparation of grant proposals for international programming and other programming under purview

Oversee International Programming 

Oversee all operations for four Project Sunshine international satellite sites. Develop and implement, in partnership with local staff, related program goals. Manage culturally relevant

volunteer, hospital and organizational processes (volunteer recruitment, program monitoring and evaluation, program budgeting, satellite legal and financial administration, etc.) o

Project Sunshine Israel – oversee programming engaging 125 volunteers at six hospitals and medical facilities in Central and Northern Israel; coordinate meetings of independent board of directors and filings of finances in conjunction with local consultant Project Sunshine Kenya – supervise programming, in Mombasa hospital and two nearby locations, which is proving highly effective in transforming healthcare experience of over 6,000 children infected with or affected by HIV; and manage the successful Healthy Living Initiative, a related WASH project Project Sunshine China – supervise staff member who manages programming in Beijing, where volunteer-led programming is having a transformative and groundbreaking impact at six hospitals and medical facilities Project Sunshine Canada, Inc. – liaise with dynamic local program staff at organization’s affiliate

Oversee Specified US Programs 

Oversee operations and a portfolio of program goals for specified domestic programs, including volunteer management and hospital relationships o Manage and oversee a portfolio of programming in NYC hospitals, engaging volunteers to deliver services, companionship and joy to local patients and families o Oversee targeted “Sending Sunshine” programs, through which volunteers create activity kits and organize toy and book drives to benefit young patients and caregivers nationwide

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities         

Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 10 years of professional experience required, with relevant global health or international development program and management experience Master’s Degree in Public Health, International Development, or other relevant fields preferred Solid experience in program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation Leadership experience in managing international initiatives, with field experience and management of remote teams a plus Passion for and strong commitment to advancing Project Sunshine’s mission Exceptional writing, interpersonal and organizational skills Flexible and adaptable style and creative problem-solving skills Ability to manage tasks independently and willingness to travel internationally one/two times per year Passion for working as a part of a team and promoting collaboration and cooperation To Apply Please submit a cover letter and resume by email to: [email protected].
