PROSTATE CANCER FAST FACTS DID YOU KNOW? FACTS ABOUT PROSTATE CANCER We are proud to be the presenting sponsor of the 2016 Father’s Day Walk/Run for Prostate Cancer Foundation BC, on June 19, 2016! As an extension of our sponsorship, we will be highlighting facts and resources about the disease on our intranet and external website.

WHAT IS PROSTATE CANCER Prostate cancer is a disease where some prostate cells have lost normal control of growth and division. Men with prostate cancer have small tumours in the prostate. In the early stages of the disease, when the cancer cells are only in the prostate, 90% of the cases can be successfully treated. Unfortunately, early stage symptoms are very difficult to recognize. Without regular testing (PSA and DRE), it is very difficult to detect early stage prostate cancer. Prostate cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body and produce secondary tumours (metastases) if untreated. Prostate Cancer Foundation BC suggests that men over 40 have a conversation with their doctor about the PSA test and DRE examination.
