Protections for People with Disabilities

Our adult family members may need extra support to make decisions as adults, but it may not mean guardianship is the only option. The ability to make choices in one’s life is a right everyone should have. Options might include: • Guardianship • Health Care Proxies • HIPAA releases • Durable Power of Attorney • And what is Supported Decision Making anyway? Seunghee Cha from Bulkley Richardson, Attorneys at Law, will provide insight into the most common protection options and how a combination of protective measures can potentially be utilized to ensure safety, yet maintain the ability to be as independent as possible in adult life. This workshop is most appropriate for parents and professionals working with those 14 and older, but all are welcome. Date/Time: Tuesday, January 9, 2018, 6:00– 8:00 p.m. Location: Family Empowerment, 41 Russell St., Hadley RSVP: Michelle Mendes, [email protected], 413.585.8010 Questions: Michelle Mendes or Donna Kushi at [email protected]
