SCOPE OF WORK 1.1

General Description of the Works

The work consists of supplying comprehensive boom wire lubrication services for Ship to Shore cranes at the Durban Container Terminal for a period of two years.

1.2

Detailed Scope

a) Clean and remove old grease from entire boom wires b) Examine condition of entire boom wires c) Lubricate boom wires from top end of latches to bottom end of front boom d) Clean and clear the working area e) Provide examination results and recommendations pertaining to condition of boom wires to Transnet technical cranes department

1.3 Compulsory Requirements a) Boom wires of ship to shore cranes to be examined and lubricated every 6 months b) Total number of boom wires to be inspected and lubricated are 17 cranes c) The contractor must provide technicians with industrial rope access facilities for working at heights d) The contractor must use their own equipment for examining and lubricating boom wires e) Transnet will provide the grease to the contractor for lubricating boom wires f)

Safety file to be submitted to Transnet SHERQ

3 Site Access The site is at the Container Terminal in the Port of Durban. Access to the Port of Durban will be subject to the TPT security requirements and regulations. A safety site induction will be compulsory for Suppliers that are entering the terminal for the first time. Supplier using their own vehicles to enter the terminal should have PPE, a safety file and provide their own revolving light for their vehicles.

3.1 Site Facilities available No facilities have been provided for by the employer because of the nature and duration of the works. Should a lay down area be required, contractor shall have to arrange their own vehicle and necessary tools to perform the task. Contractor is expected to perform all activities out of site.
