*PUBLIC NOTICE The Forest Preserve District of Kane County (FPDKC) is announcing its intent to extend the Great Western Trail from the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve 0.70 mile to the existing trail connection along Randall Road located in the City of St. Charles, Kane County, Illinois. The project will consist of the purchase of abandoned railroad property and the construction of a new paved 10-foot wide multi-use path along the railroad property. The project will include tree and vegetation removal and wetland impacts. The Forest Preserve District’s Commission received a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement grant to assist in funding the acquisition and construction of the trail extension. The public is invited to comment on this proposed project. Written comments may be mailed or submitted electronically to the FPDKC office.
