East Kootenay – Services update due to weather Ongoing weather events continue to create potential challenges with Interior Health services in the East Kootenay. At this time, all facilities in the East Kootenay remain open during their regular service times and are able to meet urgent care needs for local residents. Interior Health advises any residents who require emergency care to contact 9-1-1 immediately or visit the closest open emergency department. However, some specific services and appointments may need to be rescheduled. Interior Health is in the process of contacting patients and clients directly to notify them of any changes to booked appointments/procedures. Laboratory and diagnostic imaging testing for non-urgent cases may be impacted at some sites. Please call your local hospital, health centre or clinic to confirm the service you seek is available. During this time, Interior Health is asking residents to use their emergency departments wisely and avoid coming to the emergency department if you do not have an urgent medical need. If you are unsure if you require urgent medical care, call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 (24 hour service), and a nurse can discuss your needs with you over the phone. Interior Health apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates the public’s patience and understanding during this time. -30-
