Do Not Use Order near Bridesville: Update On Mar. 2, 2017, Interior Health issued a Do Not Use order for water for several properties in a specified area between Bridesville and Rock Creek. This precautionary measure was due to notification from the RCMP that a clandestine drug lab had been depositing hazardous materials onto the soil of a property in the area, possibly contaminating the local ground water. Interior Health is now removing the Do Not Use order for the majority of these properties based on an update from the Ministry of Environment (MoE). The MoE is investigating the extent and impact of potential contamination, and has determined that for the majority of properties, the risk of contamination of ground water is considered to be extremely low. However, three property owners remain impacted by the original Do Not Use order at this time as MoE continues its investigation. All property owners impacted by the original Do Not Use order have been directly contacted by Interior Health and informed of their status. Interior Health continues to work with the Ministry of Environment, the lead agency with regards to this situation, and will contact property owners who continue to be impacted by the Do Not Use order as more information becomes available. -30-
