QRC 2017 International Student Scholarship The Queenstown Resort College (QRC) International Student Scholarship provides financial support for one student who demonstrates a passion for the hospitality and tourism industry. Applications close midnight NZST Sunday 30 July 2017. The QRC International Student Scholarship is available for either the Diploma of Hospitality Management or the Diploma of Adventure Tourism Management. It is open to students who are not New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents.

The QRC International Student Scholarship is for the 2017 October Level 5 Diploma intake and covers 50% of the first year’s tuition (total value NZ$10,000) Scholarship eligibility Application

Student must apply in the usual manner to one of QRC’s Level 5 Diploma programmes.

Citizenship

Must not have New Zealand citizenship or be a New Zealand Permanent Resident.

International Academic Requirements

Have successfully completed the equivalent of 12 years of schooling equivalent to NZQA requirements. A full list of equivalents can be found at QRC’s website. Applicants must provide certified copies of academic transcripts and graduation certificates. If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate an English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.0 in each band and 6.0 in speaking or Pearson Test (PTE) overall score of 56 with no communicative skills below 50.

Applications reviewed by a selection panel from the QRC Senior Management Team and Faculty.

Two applicants will be shortlisted and will be interviewed via Skype by the selection panel the week of 7 August 2017

Selection Criteria • • •

Applicants are evaluated on academic merit, level of extracurricular involvement and knowledge of hospitality and tourism as demonstrated in their synopsis, Curriculum Vitae and interview. The QRC International Scholarship is an Ambassador Role and therefore the selection panel are looking for applicants who demonstrate strong leadership skills, positive and outgoing personalities, enjoy working and being involved and show a strong interest in tourism or hospitality. Applicants must have good communication skills.

Only one Scholarship will be awarded to a student studying a Level 5 Diploma programme commencing in October 2017 and is non-transferable. The Scholarship Selection Panel’s decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into. Applicants must meet the entry requirements stated on the QRC Diploma Application Form which is to be completed as part of the Scholarship application. The Scholarship covers 50% of the full tuition fees for the first year of study and does not include the costs associated with re-sitting any failed papers. Tuition fees remaining will be $10,000 plus course related costs ($2,500), Enrolment Fee ($200) and Insurance ($454).College fees are subject to change. Payment of the Scholarship is dependent on the successful applicant obtaining a Student Visa in time to commence study in October 2017. The Scholarship funds are directly paid to the QRC Admissions team and credited to fees. Living costs such as accommodation are not included in the Scholarship. Successful recipients of the Scholarship must sign and accept the contractual agreements and obligations of the Scholarships. Any withdrawal from the programme prior to completion will require the student to re-pay the Scholarship fees invested by QRC. Dismissal from the programme due to the recipient’s non-attendance, under performance and course failure will also result in the financial obligation having to be met by the recipient.

Expectations of Scholarship Recipient • • • •

Be a responsible member of QRC community and conform to the regulations of Queenstown Resort College (QRC). Be an Ambassador for QRC and be actively involved in any promotions, Student Council, Career Week and other areas identified by QRC and the Marketing Department. Fulfil the programme requirements (attendance, PE, assignments and examinations) and progress through the Diploma programme in the time allowed. Be a leader on campus and report any difficulties in complying to the Scholarship or the diploma to the Student Relations Manager.
