AIM: This professional development workshop offers an opportunity both for aspiring qualitative researchers to learn about qualitative methodological approaches and for researcher with some experience on qualitative methods to strengthen their methodological capabilities. The intention of the workshop is to provide the participant with the basic skills needed to choose appropriate methods for a given project in the field of innovation management, as well as primary considerations in conducting qualitative research. SCOPE AND CONTENT: • Philosophical underpinnings: ontology and epistemology in qualitative research • Research design • Formulating research questions • Choosing the research strategy • Collecting data • Analyzing data: moving from raw data to theoretical abstraction, analytical procedures • Theoretical explanation • Reporting qualitative research • Quality and methodological rigor of qualitative research WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE: Researchers with no or little background in qualitative research (PhD students/early career scholars); participants are encouraged to have some of their own research or even data in mind when attending the workshop.
