  Quick Maintenance Guide    Maintaining your tank can be easy if you just make a habit of it in the beginning. We made this quick  guide to keep with your tank so you can refer to it easily when needed. If you want to dive deeper into  water care, be sure to use our water care guide found here:     zenfloatco.com/water­care     You don’t have to maintain everything all the time, so we’ve divided this guide into a weekly and  monthly layout. Some things you check weekly, some you only have to check monthly.  

  WEEKLY    pH Levels  The ideal pH range is 7.2­7.8. To find you water’s current levels just dunk a test strip in the water for a  couple seconds, in good light pull out and check the color reference on the bottle.  ● To increase the pH use 1 tablespoon of pH Up. Wait 30 minutes and test again.   ● To decrease the pH use 1 tablespoon of pH Down. Wait 30 minutes and test again.     Peroxide Concentration  The ideal Peroxide concentration is 40­50 ppm. Peroxide comes in many different levels of  concentration so this part can get tricky. When using Hydrogen Peroxide pay attention to concentration  levels and the subsequent warnings on the bottle.  ● If you are using 35% concentration (which is harder to come by) add 1oz of liquid at a time  until you reach 40­50 ppm. If you are using a less concentrated Hydrogen Peroxide you will  have to do the math to find out how much to add for the same effect.  ● If it’s your first time adding Hydrogen Peroxide to your water, or your levels have fallen to 0  ppm, It could take 5­10 times more just to start showing up on your strips.      Note: Hydrogen Peroxide is not a very stable product, and can lose potency depending on how old it is  and what temperature it is stored at. Hydrogen Peroxide is a strong oxidizer. Be incredibly careful and  always follow the label warnings & instructions.    Alkalinity  The ideal Total Alkalinity is 80­120 ppm.  When the Total Alkalinity is too low, the pH level can  fluctuate widely and the water can become corrosive.  When the Total Alkalinity is too high, the pH  will be high and scale will form on pool surfaces and equipment.  ● To raise Total Alkalinity, add Sodium Bicarbonate. (Baking Soda) This adds to the total  bicarbonates in the water, raising the Total Alkalinity.   ● To lower alkalinity just add pH down  Note: Total Alkalinity and pH level are closely related, so it is important to test pH after adjusting Total  Alkalinity. 

 

 

 

  MONTHLY    Water Level  Top up your water level to 10” monthly with the use of your water filter when possible. The water filter  isn’t mandatory it just removes the iron in the water which can reduce the chance of water yellowing.      Salt Saturation  Check your water saturation every month when you top off your water. Just fill up the hydrometer and  hold level, make sure the needle points to the “float zone.” We’ve marked the float zone so you don’t  have to worry about the details.   ● If you are below the float zone just add 10 lbs of salt and stir into you water. Test again.   ● If you are ever above the float zone just add more water to your tank. It is never good to be  over the float zone! This could cause crystallization and damage you Float Tent.  Note: Salt saturation is easy to maintain and it will take months to get off enough where you will  notice. Basically just check the salt saturation monthly and add a big scoop of salt when needed.     Filter Bag  Your filter bag should last around 1­3 months, but a lot will depend on how well you clean off your  body before entering the tank. If your filter is a light brown color, it’s time to change it out. You will  likely see the bag every time you float, otherwise just check monthly.     Water Surface Cleaning  Skimming is cleaning the debris that floats on the surface of the water. Usually oils, hair and dust. A  pool/spa sponge will take care of the oils, and you can manually clean off the other debris with a  skimming net. 

   TIPS AND TRICKS    ● ● ● ● ●

The UV filter should be turned off during your float, and then back on again after your float.  The faint blue glow from UV bulb can seen from the side of the filter, if the bulb for any  reason is not lit, unplug the UV filter, remove the from the water and replace the bulb.   When cleaning the inside of tent you can use isopropyl alcohol, diluted peroxide, or distilled  vinegar.  If the pH up and down clump together, make a premix by adding the powder to a cup of water  and put the premix into the tank.  If your water ever starts to smell unfresh, start by making sure your filter bag is clean, then add  Hydrogen Peroxide. This should bring the water back to fresh.
