Best Practices for Firm-Provided Computer – WH Connect BEST PRACTICES FOR FIRM-PROVIDED COMPUTER This document offers helpful details and instructions for how to best use WH Connect (connect.wilmerhale.com) on a firm-provided Windows computer. It is intended for use as a first option if you are experiencing any issues when trying to connect. To ensure that you are able to successfully connect to the firm with WH Connect, this document outlines these two minimum requirements: (click on the requirement to go directly to that section of the document)  Access the correct address for WH Connect  Use Internet Explorer to access WH Connect In addition to these basic requirements, you will find other best practices for WH Connect including:  Confirm you are fully Logged In to WH Connect  Log out of WH Connect correctly  Access through the Applications Portal  Use the Native plug-in to see local printers inside Citrix sessions  Clear Internet Explorer cache regularly  Reboot your computer  Power Cycle your Modem and Router

The address for WH Connect is https://connect.wilmerhale.com. If you have previously bookmarked the WH ConnectProxy page and the bookmark is no longer working, you may need to delete the bookmark and access the site by manually entering the address.

WH Connect is designed to work with Internet Explorer on firm computers. Google Chrome, the secondary firm browser, has been tested and certified, but Internet Explorer is the preferred browser.

LOGGED IN TO WH CONNECT

You have successfully connected to the firm’s network when INSITE appears in Internet Explorer and the Network Connect VPN icon displays in the System Tray. You can now work as if you were inside the office.

Tip – You can customize the Notification Area to show the Network Connect VPN icon whenever you are connected. You do this by clicking on the “Customize…” link shown above and then changing the dropdown for the Network Connect application to “Show icon and notifications”.

LOG O UT OF WH CONNECT CORRECTLY Follow the steps below to correctly log out of WH Connect. 1.

Close all open applications.

ACCESS THROUGH THE APPLICATIONS PORTAL Firm provided laptops also have the ability to use Citrix to access a Full Desktop session. When you are far from an office of the firm you may have a better experience by working out of a WH Full Desktop session. You can access the Applications Portal on the initial WH Connect login screen or even after you have signed in normally. To access on the initial WH Connect login screen: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Open Internet Explorer and navigate to CONNECT.WILMERHALE .COM. Sign in with your firm credentials. Answer your security question (if prompted). Launch the WH F U L L D E S K T O P .

To access after signing in with the “On a firm computer?” method: 1. 2. 3.

When INSITE loads click on Q U I C K L I N K S and select A P P L I C A T I O N S P O R T A L (C I T R I X ). Sign in with your firm credentials. Launch WH F U L L D E S K T O P .

PLUG -IN TO SEE LOCAL PRINTERS

If you notice that your local printers do not appear inside of your Citrix sessions (i.e. the WH Full Desktop) then the issue may be related to the plug-in you are using. There are two plug-ins available: Native and Java. Only the Native plug-in offers local printing capability. To check which plug-in you are using: 1. 2. 3.

Sign-in to W H C O N N E C T When the Applications Portal window appears, click S E T T I N G S . On the Settings screen confirm the Native client is selected. If it is not selected, click C H A N G E C L I E N T , select N A T I V E from the list, and click S A V E .

All new Citrix sessions that you open will now use the Native plug-in and you will be able to print to your local printers from inside the sessions.

It may be necessary to restart your computer if you are unable to sign in to WH ConnectProxy. The firm recommends restarting your computer at least once a week, as this will allow your system to install updates and will help with performance and stability.

If you are experiencing issues accessing the WH Connect sign-in page or slow performance when signed in, it may be a good idea to power cycle your modem and router. To reboot your modem and router: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Shut down your computer. Unplug the power cable from both the modem and router. Wait 30 seconds then reconnect the power to your modem. Wait 30 additional seconds then reconnect the power to your router.

It may take a few minutes for each device to fully power back on and Internet access to be restored. Some Internet Service Providers provide a Modem/Router all-in-one unit so you may only have one device to power cycle.
