Nomination Process
Created in 1959, the Alumnus of the Year Award recognizes achievement of an exceptional nature in any field as well as continued contributions to the community and/or RCCD colleges. Candidate's achievements should be recognizable beyond the college district, preferably at a state, national, or international level. Achievement is paramount, while name recognition to the general public is not a deciding factor.
Nominations are accepted year-round. Nominating a friend,
Alumnus of the Year candidates must have attended an RCCD college for at least two semesters or completed at least 24 units of study. The award is given to no more than one person annually.
Considerations
Has the candidate had an impact on his/her profession and/ or community ? • How has the candidate maintained a connection with the District and/or colleges? • How has the candidate served the District, colleges and alumni? •
Notes • Nominees should not be informed that they are under
consideration since only one honoree is chosen each year. • Nominations not selected for the current year's Alumnus of
the Year Award will remain on file for three years for future consideration.

4FMFDUJPO Nominations for the RCCD Alumnus of the Year are reviewed by a committee of RCCD leaders and volunteers. Recommendations are forwarded to the Chancellor, who makes the final selection. The RCCD Alumnus of the Year is recognized and honored at a special event each year.
