In 2015, 33 people died on Lorain County roads. Half of those people died in a crash that involved alcohol or drugs. 1 In 2015, 346 individuals in Ohio died as a result of an alcohol-related crash. These deaths could have been prevented simply by having a designated sober driver. 2

The Vanishing Act Mixed By: Lorain County JVS Marketing and Culinary

Ingredients:

4 c. Lemonade- cold 6 oz. Fresh raspberries- chilled 1oz. Cotton candy to garnish

Directions:

Pour lemonade and raspberries into a blender. Blend until ingredients are one consistency. Pour into 6 oz. glasses. Garnish with 1oz. ball of cotton candy. Watch The Vanishing Act! Makes 10 servings.

Tears of Joy Mixed By: The Nord Center Sexual Assault Services

Ingredients:

2 l. 7-Up 4 c. White grape juice 2 c. White cranberry juice 2 c. Club soda Ice





Directions:

Combine all ingredients into a punch bowl and serve on ice. Makes 16 servings.

NO WHIP LASH Mixed By: Lorain County Sheriff’s Office

Ingredients: 40 oz. Pineapple- pureed 2 tbsp. Lemon juice 2 tbsp. Lime juice 1/3 c. Sugar 1 ½ c. Whipped cream

Directions:



Grill pineapple (optional)-puree. Place pineapple, lemon juice, lime juice, and sugar in blender or food processor, blend until smooth. Pour into gallon bag, lay flat in freezer until slushy. Place mixture in large bowl with whipped cream. Fold together and return to freezer for about an hour. Scoop into glass with pineapple juice garnish. Makes 8 servings.

The Prom Punch (It’s not spiked) Mixed By: Catholic Charities – Teen Mentor Program

Ingredients:

3 ½ c. Ruby red grapefruit juice 1 c. Pomegranate juice 1 l. Ginger ale 1 Orange- thinly sliced 1 pt. Fresh raspberries

Directions:

Stir together grapefruit juice and pomegranate juice in a large serving bowl. Chill the mixture overnight. Stir in Ginger ale, and float orange slices on top. Toss in raspberries. Enjoy! Makes 10 servings.

A Taste of Heaven Mixed by: Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America

Ingredients:

6 c. Strawberries 2 Bananas 2 c. Vanilla yogurt 1 c. Ice Chocolate syrup

Directions:

1. Place fresh or frozen strawberries and bananas into a blender 2. Also add the ice cubes and vanilla yogurt 3. Blend it all up until it is smooth, or the texture you want 4. After blended fully, add in the chocolate syrup and stir slightly 5. Pour into glasses and drink up Makes 8 servings.

Tropical LIFE Mixed by: LIFE: A Dementia Friendly Foundation

Ingredients: 64 oz. Tropical drink (Welch’s) 1 qt. Rainbow Sorbet Fresh fruit (pineapple, strawberries, raspberries—your choice)

Directions:

Add ingredients to a punch bowl, float sorbet, and fresh fruit. Serve with or without ice Makes 5 gallons.

Sleigh Driver Mixed by: Lorain County Blue Foundation

Ingredients:

1 c. Water ½ c. Sugar (1) 2 in. piece fresh ginger, peeled and sliced 3 Pears, chopped 2 qt. Apple Cider 1 Lemon 1 c. Fresh cranberries

Directions:

1. Boil together water, sugar, ginger and cut pear over med-high heat. Stir occasionally. Strain solids and return liquid to the pan. 2. Add pears, cider, lemon, allspice and heat over med-high heat. Stir often for 15 min. 3. Add cranberries and vanilla. Reduce heat to med-low (simmer not boil) *Make ahead tip: let cool, cover and refrigerate for 1 day. Reheat on stove on low.

Apple Bottom Mixed by: Lorain Urban Minority Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Outreach Program (UMADAOP)

Ingredients:

64 oz. Apple Juice 4 scoops & ½ c. of lemon mix 1 c. of sugar 5 Lemons cut up

Directions:

Pour apple juice in bowl. Add lemon mix, sugar and cut up lemons. Mix all together and pour into pitcher with ice. Makes 15 servings.

Merry Mock-mosa Mixed by: Murray Ridge Center- Early Intervention Department

Ingredients:

64 oz. Orange juice 2 l. Lemon-lime soft drink Pomegranate juice Raspberries

Directions:

Combine orange juice and lemon-lime soft drink in a punch bowl. Add pomegranate juice to taste. Serve over ice, if desired. Garnish with raspberries

Tropical Disaster Mixed By: Elyria Catholic – Food and Nutrition Class

Ingredients:

½ c. Pineapple juice ½ c. Mango nectar ¼ c. Apple juice ½ c. Ginger ale 1 Tbs. Cream of coconut

Directions:

Mix together all juices. Add cream of coconut last. Stir and serve over ice. Makes 4 servings.

Cinnamon Rush Mixed By: Keystone High School Youth 4 Youth (A)

Ingredients:

1 c. Cashews - raw ¾ c. Water ¾ c. Pumpkin puree 1 tsp. Vanilla extract 2 ½ tsp. Ground cinnamon 2 tsp. Ginger ½ c. Maple syrup ½ tsp. Nutmeg ¼ tsp. Allspice ½-1 c. French vanilla creamer Whipped cream

Directions:

Place all ingredients (excluding whip cream) in a high-speed blender. Puree until smooth (about 1 minute). Refrigerate or add ice cubes. Lastly add whip cream on top (optional). Makes 4 servings.

Wildcat Wonderland Punch Mixed by: Keystone High School Youth 4 Youth (B)

Ingredients: 4 c. Fresh blueberries 1 c. Water ½ c. Caster Sugar Juice from 1 lemon 4-6 1 ½ in. Sprigs of lavender Directions:

Mix all of the ingredients in a pitcher or punch bowl and stir. Serve over ice if desired.

Green Ranger Mixed By: Lorain County Metro Parks

Ingredients:

46 oz. Pineapple juice ¾ c. Frozen limeade concentrate, thawed 1 l. Ginger ale 1 qt. Lime sherbet, softened

Directions:

In a punch bowl combine the pineapple juice and limeade concentrate. Add soda and sherbet: Stir until blended. Serve immediately. Makes 21 servings. Nutritional Facts: ¾ c. serving = 116 calories, 1g fat, 0 cholesterol, 18mg sodium, 27g crabs, 24g sugar, 1g fiber, 1g protein.

THE VELEZ Mixed by: Ohio State Highway Patrol- Elyria Post

Ingredients:

5 cans Evaporated milk 1 tbsp. Vanilla extract 2 Bananas 1 c. Sugar 1 can Crème of coconut Whipped cream and cinnamon

Directions:

Add the evaporated milk, crème of coconut, and bananas to blender. Blend, add sugar while blending. Empty the blender into a large bowl, add remaining cans of evaporated milk to bowl as well. Stir thoroughly. Add vanilla and taste. You can more vanilla to taste if necessary. Top drink with whipped cream and cinnamon. Makes 6 servings.

Metro Life Flight Safety Slush Mixed by: Cleveland Metro Life Flight

Ingredients:

2 c. Fresh lemon juice (10 lemons) 1 c. Ice 4 c. Water ½ c. Sugar Pineapple Frozen Blueberries

Directions:

Combine lemon juice, sugar, ice, and water in a blender—blend. Then pour over crushed ice. Garnish with frozen blueberries.

Makes 1 ½ quarts.

“Pom”eranian Mock-tini Mixed by: Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office

Ingredients:

2 c. Pomegranate juice 1 ½ c. Orange juice 24 oz. Apple cider Juice from 1 lemon 1 bottle Club soda Seeds –called arils- from 1 pomegranate

Directions:

Combine pomegranate juice, orange juice, apple cider, and lemon juice. Stir. Chill. When ready to serve, slowly pour in the club soda and gently mix. Pour into glasses and add seeds/arils to each glass.

Makes 12 servings.

(A Kentucky Derby Mocktail) Mixed by: United Way of Greater Lorain County



Ingredients: (scale parts per servings needed) 2 parts Lime sparkling water 4 parts Blood orange Italian soda 2 parts Tonic water Basil leaves to taste Orange sugar rim Garnish with fresh lime, blood orange, or grapefruit per preference

Directions:



• Muddle basil leaves • Combine blood orange Italian soda, tonic water & line sparkling water • Add muddled basil leaves to taste • Apply sugar rim as desired • Garnish with fresh lime, blood orange or grapefruit per preference

Strawberry Snow Cake Mixed by: Starbucks

Ingredients

8 oz. Heavy cream 2 oz. Cream cheese 2 tbsp. Vanilla bean powder 8 tsp. White mocha syrup 3 tsp. Hazelnut syrup 16 oz. Strawberry juice 6 Fresh Strawberries for drizzle

Directions:

• Combine strawberry juice, heavy cream, cream cheese, vanilla bean powder, white mocha syrup, and hazelnut syrup to blender • Blend • Pour into glasses • Add strawberry drizzle, whip cream, and chestnut praline topping

Spicy Chocolate Pumpkin Milkshake Mixed by: LCCC Police Training Academy

Ingredients:

½ c. Whole milk ½ c. Pumpkin puree ¼ tsp. Cinnamon- ground ¼ tsp. Ginger- ground ¼ tsp. Cloves- ground 3 c. Chocolate ice cream (6 medium scoops) Garnish: whipped cream and chocolate to grate on top, chocolate syrup for glass.

Directions:

- Combine ingredients into a blender. - Blend together. - Pour into glasses and garnish with toppings.

Gen Blue Mixed by: Coldwell Banker Schmidt Family of Companies and First Federal of Lakewood Bank

Ingredients:

9 c. Blue Gatorade 6 c. Sprite 1 c. Sweet and sour mix Garnish with fresh blueberries

Directions:

Combine chilled liquids into a punch bowl, and add blueberries to float.

Lemon Drop Mixed by: Elyria Print LLC

Ingredients

2 6 oz. boxes lemon Jell-O 1 Lemon, freshly squeezed 8 Packets lemon sugar crystals 1 pt. heavy whipping cream ¼ c. white sugar

Directions:

Prepare the Jell-O per directions for Jigglers. While the Jell-O is still in liquid form, but somewhat cool, whip in the whipping cream, white sugar and fresh lemon juice. Pour into molds. When completely cooled, sprinkle lemon sugar crystals on top of Jigglers. Refrigerate at least 3 hours or until firm. Serve chilled. Makes 16 servings.

Hot Dawg Mixed by: Murray Ridge Center

Ingredients: 4 cups milk 2 cups heavy cream 2 cups semi sweet or milk chocolate chips 1/2 cup caramels, unwrapped 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 tsp. fine sea salt Optional: whipped cream and sprinkles Directions: Add milk, heavy cream, chocolate chips, caramels, and vanilla extract to a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours. Stir. If the chocolate chips or caramels are not completely melted, cover and cook for 20-30 minutes longer. Stir in the sea salt just before serving. Serve with additional toppings, if desired. Makes 8 servings.

Wonderland Potion

Mixed by: The Nord Center Sexual Assault Services Ingredients: 2 oz. lemon simple syrup 2 oz. ginger ale ¼ cup crushed ice 1 Tbs. grenadine Lemon Cherries

Directions: Combine lemon simple syrup, grenadine, and ginger ale. Pour over ice, and stir. Dress up the potion with a lemon wedge, a cherry, and a drizzle of grenadine.

Vive Unido Fresh Fruitijito Mixed by: United Way of Greater Lorain County Ingredients: 1/4 cups lime juice Blue sugar 6 kiwis 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 lb. bag of ice Mint leaves 3/4 cups blueberries 2 cups sparkling water Orange slices and/or strawberries to garnish Directions: Garnish rims of cups with lime juice and blue sugar. Mix kiwis, sugar and lime juice. Layer mix, ice, mint leaves, more ice and crushed blueberries in cup. Add sparkling water, mix and serve. Makes 6-8 servings.

White Mint DECA Cocoa Mixed By: Lorain County JVS DECA Club

Ingredients: 1/2 gallon milk 2 (4 oz.) packs white chocolate, broken into pieces 1/2 cup crushed candy canes 1/2 tsp. vanilla Whipped cream Small candy canes (for garnish) Directions: In a 5-quart slow cooker, add milk,white chocolate, crushed candy canes, and vanilla. Cover and cook on high for 1 1/2 hours (stir every 15 minutes). Serve topped with whipped cream and extra crushed candy canes, and garnish with a small candy cane. Makes 8 servings.

Justice Prevails Mixed by: Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office

Ingredients: 2 Tbs. Godiva white chocolate syrup 1 drop peppermint extract 2 Tbs. half & half 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream Topping: Candy cane sprinkles Directions: First, mix together white chocolate syrup, extract, and half & half. Then, mix in the ice cream until smooth (you can use a blender for large batches). Pour into drinking glass and top with candy cane sprinkles. Enjoy! Makes 2 servings.

Stay Safe and Drive Sober to Spread the Holiday Cheer! Consider these Holiday tips to stay safe: • A sober driver is the way to go; so, plan ahead and find a safe way home before the festivities begin • If you’re impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation • If you happen to see a drunk driver on the road, call local law enforcement Be the ‘Hostess with Mostess’ All Year Long! • Offer your favorite non-alcoholic beverage from the Zero-Proof Mix-Off as an option for guests • Plan activities like party games or door prize drawings to keep guests engaged in things other than drinking alcohol • Help guests to coordinate safe rides home before the party starts • If a guest appears to be drinking too much, offer to freshen their drink up with something non-alcoholic • Close the bar at least 90 minutes before the party ends & offer a great dessert treat & non-alcoholic beverage Alcohol Free Party ideas! • Host your own Zero-Proof Mix-Off by asking guests to create non-alcoholic drink recipes as a part of a competition • Try a white Elephant Gift Exchange to keep guests engaged in a non-alcoholic activity • Have guests dress up in a stylish theme to make the party unique and fun • Make an exciting holiday menu that will be the talk of the party As a party guest, YOU can be part of the solution too! • Drinking at a party is not mandatory to have a good time, so avoid pressuring others to do so • Volunteer to be a designated driver—your friends & family will be thankful • If you see someone who is about to drive impaired, take their keys and help them make safe arrangements
