Hello SHPE Familia! This is Celso Gomez one of your Vice Regional Student Representatives! I hope everything is going well for you as Volume 1 | Issue 5 some of you are just starting the semester and others are February 2016 getting into that midterm grind! Let’s all remember this is a new semester and let us keep it strong both academically Upcoming Events and with our responsibilities as SHPE members and officers. February 4 Just a couple of reminders the big one is RLDC that will be CSULB from April 7th-10th in Tempe, Arizona. Please promote this to BJ’s Fundraiser (Cerritos Auto Square your members as much as possible as we would like to see a location) great turn out this year representing Region 2. Another 2-10p thing, please email Melanie anything you might have for events so that they may be added to this Newsletter. We are February 5 hoping to expand the amount of pages for this Newsletter University of Arizona so that you can promote your activities as much as possible! College and high school students from the LA County Region will showcase their original projects. There will be judging for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards. Workshops and keynotes will be offered focusing on STEM by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Come meet industry professionals and enjoy a FREE continental breakfast and InN-Out. This month, the SHPE UA Chapter would like to highlight Estephania Hurtado for her continued involvement in the first few weeks of class. She is taking the next step to become more involved, and is working hard towards getting an internship for the summer. She also participated in the Frisbee social, and brought a friend as well. Apart from Frisbee, she plays for our intramural volleyball team: Spike That SHPE. Her warm personality and drive for success is what makes her SHPE UA's Member of the Month.
