Regional Monthly Dashboard August 2017 HEALTH AND NUTRITION By the end of August, approximately 1.86 million primary health care consultations were provided, representing over 49 per cent of the 2017 overall target, and over 113,000 referrals were made to secondary or tertiary health care. The number of health facilities supported across the region stands now at 234, and over 3,500 health care staff has been trained. Some highlights of the Health and Nutrition Sector across the region in August include: In Lebanon, almost 61,000 individuals have been assisted with their hospital bills. In Turkey, over 4,600 persons were provided with transportation to health facilities. In Iraq, medicine shortages remain a key concern in public facilities, particularly for patients with chronic diseases, overstretched the health system. Furthermore the irregular payment of salaries due to the ongoing financial crisis in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has affected the provision of health services at public health facilities.
